Chapter 179: Morten

The following day

Sebastian arrived at the hospital, stepping into a bustling ward filled with the quiet murmur of concerned visitors. Jared was seated comfortably on a sofa in the lounge area, his posture relaxed yet attentive, while Ruby moved about nearby, occupied with various tasks.

By the bedside, an elderly gentleman perched on a small stool, engaged in conversation with Mr. Whitmore. Occasionally, the old man’s eyes would soften as he glanced affectionately at a young woman standing close by. When he noticed that his granddaughter was staring blankly toward the doorway, it dawned on him that someone had just entered the room.

Seeing the senior member of the Lindt family sitting beside the bed, Sebastian offered a courteous nod in greeting.

Triny Lewis observed the newcomer carefully. Over the past two years, Sebastian’s visits to Kingston had become infrequent, and since she had been occupied herself, their paths had never crossed until now.

Upon hearing that Mr. Whitmore was unwell, Triny had anticipated Sebastian’s arrival. That was why she had insisted on accompanying her grandfather today. As it turned out, her intuition had been correct—Sebastian was indeed here.

Morten Lewis glanced at his granddaughter, who still looked stunned. A warm smile spread across his face before he chuckled softly. “Look at my silly granddaughter. The moment she spots your Sebastian, she forgets all about her old grandpa. Seems like a grown woman just can’t be kept at home anymore.”

Triny snapped back to reality, a rosy blush coloring her cheeks. She looked at her grandfather shyly. “Grandpa, what are you saying?” Then, turning toward Sebastian, she quickly added, “Brother Fu, please don’t get the wrong idea. I’m just… well…” But before she could finish, she noticed that Sebastian hadn’t even glanced in her direction. Instead, he had quietly moved to the other side of the bed, causing her face to drain of color.

Sebastian approached the bedside and spoke softly, “Grandpa, how are you feeling today?”

Mr. Whitmore let out a cold snort. “So you still remember to come see this old man. I thought you’d forgotten you even had a grandfather.” Over the past two years, Sebastian had spent nearly all his time in Solara. Though Kingston was just a short distance away, his visits had been rare, leaving the old man feeling somewhat neglected.

Morten, ever cheerful, chimed in, “Young people these days are always busy. My little girl here is constantly performing and hardly spends a day at home all year round. I can only imagine how much busier your Sebastian must be.”
