Sebastian did not even spare the woman a glance. "Have some self-respect," he said coldly. "I have never felt a shred of emotion for you. Even with Lilian’s face, you are only humiliating yourself. Every smile and every expression of hers is etched into my very soul."
He had not been entirely certain if this woman was Triny before, but that one scream confirmed it. The subtle inflection in her tone was identical to the woman he remembered. Combined with Renee’s earlier taunts, he was absolutely certain.
Triny’s eyes filled with a desolate sorrow. "Is that so? Are you really going to be this heartless, Sebastian? I sacrificed everything for you. Does none of that earn me even a flicker of affection?"
"None," Sebastian replied flatly. "I feel nothing for you, no matter how much you look like her." With that, he began walking toward Lilian.
Triny watched his retreating back, her voice turning dark and sinister. "You forced my hand, Sebastian. You left me no choice." She suddenly lunged at him.
"Sebastian, look out!" Uriel shrieked.
The cry sent a shockwave through the room. Every gaze snapped away from Lilian toward the blue figure throwing herself at the man.
Lilian watched the scene unfold with horror. It happened too fast; it was a move so desperate and sudden that no one could have anticipated it.
Sebastian heard Uriel’s warning and tried to turn, but before he could react, he felt a sharp, needle-like sting in his back, followed by a rush of cool liquid entering his bloodstream.
