Foster was careful with his words. “This is all we’ve got so far. Since there’s no surveillance on that road we had to track the car through the surrounding area. It entered that stretch about two hours before the crash. The driver doesn’t have much of a history. Just a local junkie with a record. The police report says he was high out of his mind when it happened.”

Sebastian slammed the file onto the desk. “Keep digging. Find out who he hung out with where he spent his time and who he was buying from. Check for anything out of the ordinary over the last few weeks. I want every single detail. There is no way there isn’t a trail.”

“Understood” Foster said before quickly heading out.

Sebastian walked back to the window his expression turning cold.

Greg clidn’t fully come to until the next morning and even then his memory of the accident was a total blur.

Jarec looked at Lilian his voice tight with worry. “What’s going on with him? Did he hit his head in the wreck?”

Lilian gave him a calm smile. “He’s fine. He just woke up so his head is still a bit foggy. He’ll start remembering once he’s had some rest. Don’t push him. If you try to force it it’ll only make things worse.”

Jared nodded. “Got it. As long as he’s okay. I’ve been on edge all morning worrying about brain damage.”

Over the next few days Greg started to bounce back. He was talking more and could eventually sit up for a bit. He was still stuck in bed because of his injuries so Jared and the others took turns staying with him but the details of the crash were still a blank.

Derrick sat in the garden watching the woman across from him with a smile. “Are you sure you want to move there?”

“Positive” Uriel said looking smug.

Derrick gave her a sly look. “No take backs?”

Uriel nodded. “Nope. Isn’t there a saying in Dracovia? A real man never goes back on his word. Well I’m sticking to my move.” “Then I guess I’m the bad guy” Derrick laughed. He placed his piece on the board and gave her a wicked grin. “I win.”

Uriel stared at the board and gasped. “Wait I messed up! No that doesn’t count. I’m redoing that.” She reached out to grab her piece.

Derrick caught her arm amused by her acting like a brat. “You’re the one who said a real man never takes back a move.”

“But I’m not a man. I’m a woman so the rules don’t apply” Uriel argued. Her playful look made Derrick’s heart race. He pulled her into his arms and spun her around. “Oh so you’re going to be difficult are you?” His voice was low and teasing.

Uriel’s face turned bright red. “I’m not being difficult. I’m just telling the truth. I never said I was a man.”

Derrick chuckled. “Fine. You’re not a man you’re my woman. But you lost the bet so it’s time to pay up.” He scooped her up and
