Gordon’s entrance immediately drew attention. Walking confidently beside him was a teenage boy, seemingly the future leader of the Goodman family. The air around them was charged with quiet curiosity.

Everyone present had caught wind of the recent upheaval within the Goodman dynasty. Though the specifics remained shrouded in rumor and speculation, the core facts were well known: Gordon had publicly declared the new successor for Goodman Corp, effectively sidelining Killian, who had once been the presumed heir. Instead, Killian had accepted a hefty ten-million-dollar settlement, a move that had ignited endless gossip ever since.

Ryan greeted Gordon with a warm smile. “Thank you for your kind words, Gordon,” he said graciously.

Suddenly, a low, sharp voice cut through the murmurs of the crowd. “Skyreach Group’s expansion has been remarkable, but prudence is still essential. After all, a sapling doesn’t become a towering tree overnight.”

Heads turned toward the speaker. A man approached steadily, holding a wine glass, his face shadowed by a somber, unreadable expression.

Killian’s eyes narrowed as he recognized the figure. “Father,” he said curtly, then shifted his gaze toward Ryan. “You agree with me, don’t you?”

Ryan caught the subtle challenge beneath Killian’s words immediately. A faint, mocking smile curved his lips. “Absolutely. I’ve heard you’ve started your own venture recently. Let’s hope your little sapling thrives—though growing without roots can be… complicated.”

Killian’s face darkened with displeasure. “That’s none of your business,” he snapped, turning sharply and striding toward his seat.

The auction was about to commence. Since Skyreach Group was still establishing its name, their presence was modest—they were seated in the third row.

No sooner had Ryan settled into his chair than someone took the seat beside him.

It was a woman, her face hidden beneath oversized sunglasses, a baseball cap pulled low, and a black tracksuit that masked her identity completely.

Ryan looked at her, puzzled. “Chair… Chairma—”

Before he could finish, the woman raised a hand to silence him. Startled, Ryan whipped his head back toward the auction platform. He hadn’t expected the chairman to arrive in such an unorthodox manner. Had he not known her so well, he might never have recognized her at all.

On stage, the auctioneer was already outlining the details of the land parcels to be sold. The crowd hadn’t noticed the mysterious woman’s entrance.

Tonight, eight parcels of land would be auctioned off. After a brief introduction by the host, the auctioneer took center stage and began his presentation.
