She turned to Harrison in amazement and whispered in his ear, "Carter is being so well-behaved now…"
Harrison glanced down at her, then at her bowl.
"He's well-behaved. What about you?"
Anastasia looked down at her plate innocently. "What about me?"
Without mercy, Harrison unearthed the two slices of liver she had carefully buried under her rice.
"Or were you planning on saving these for last?"
Anastasia was speechless.
Under Harrison's watchful eye, she reluctantly ate the liver.
"Oh!" Stella Lancaster, who was scrolling on her phone, suddenly exclaimed.
Everyone at the table immediately turned to look at her.
Stella quickly covered her mouth and tried to hide her phone, but Janice, sitting right next to her, leaned over for a look. The next second, she announced loudly, eager to stir up trouble, "Well, well, isn't that the famous veteran singer? Is he pursuing Marina?"
A sudden silence fell over the table.
In the quiet, the clink of a spoon against a bowl was jarringly loud. All eyes turned toward the source of the sound.
It was Ryan.
The once inseparable couple now sat at opposite ends of the long dining table.
Ryan's face was unreadable, but no one believed he was indifferent. His brief lapse in composure was proof enough.
"We're having a meal. What's with all the shouting?"
