Years ago, Gabriel had hired George to tutor his children. At the time, George taught Queena, Penelope, and Anastasia. While Queena and Penelope had impressed him from the start, Anastasia had been an absolute dunce. She never completed her assignments, had a poor attitude, and, despite knowing nothing, had the audacity to attempt to treat someone, nearly killing them in the process.
George had a thousand complaints about Anastasia, but Queena’s budding talent had been a delightful surprise. When he left, he brought Queena back to Riverton to cultivate her skills, and over the years, she had not disappointed him.
Thinking of Queena’s current acclaim, George’s expression filled with pride.
“Some genius,” he scoffed again. “She can only get away with that nonsense in a small town like Fairhaven. Let’s see her try to make that claim here in Riverton.”
He reassured his student, “She was never in your league to begin with. She will spend her entire life looking up at you. Don’t waste your thoughts on people like her.”
Queena smiled and nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Anastasia had entered the Austin home and met with Bruno.
“You’re Anastasia?” Bruno said, his eyes wide with disbelief. He had guessed she was young, but he had never imagined she would be *this* young.
“The new generation truly surpasses the old,” he marveled, his face breaking into a wide, happy smile.
A wave of emotion washed over Anastasia. It was the first time she had seen her teacher since her rebirth. In her past life, after “escaping” from Harrison, she had met Bruno by chance. He had been astonished by her talent and had taken her in as his disciple. He had made so many plans for her, often boasting that she was destined for greatness.
