Anastasia wanted to say that Riverton wasn't that far, that with modern travel it was only a few hours away. But seeing her cousin so dejected, she held her tongue. Instead, she said, “In that case, why don’t you come to Riverton with me?”
Juliet’s heart leaped at the suggestion, but her excitement faded just as quickly. “But I have school…” she said, her shoulders slumping.
“But you’re studying something you don’t even like, aren’t you? Instead of wasting your time, have you ever thought about studying what you truly love?”
Juliet froze, her mouth slightly agape as she stared at Anastasia. “What I love? But I…”
“Yes, study what you love. Become the person you were always meant to be.”
Anastasia smiled gently. “Instead of getting mixed up in the messy world of entertainment as an actress you don’t want to be, wouldn’t you rather be a doctor?”
The words struck Juliet like a thunderbolt. Her eyes instantly reddened, and she was speechless.
After a few moments of stunned silence, she finally managed to choke out, “Anastasia, how did you know…?”
Anastasia’s heart ached for her. She gently wiped a tear from the corner of Juliet’s eye. “Of course I know! You told me when we were little, remember?”
She could still vividly recall how fascinated Juliet had been with medicine as a child. That’s why she had been so shocked to learn Juliet had gone into acting. In their recent conversations, she had subtly brought up the topic a few times and noticed her cousin’s melancholy whenever it was mentioned. Now she was certain. Juliet still dreamed of being a doctor.
But if that was her dream, how did she end up in the entertainment industry?
