A resort?
Anastasia looked up the address, a smile touching her lips that didn’t reach her eyes.
What a perfect location. It was clear Lauren had chosen it carefully.
The resort wasn’t far from Fairhaven, but it was secluded. More importantly, it was situated halfway up a mountain, and the road leading down was a winding, treacherous stretch—a former favorite among street racers.
It seemed Lauren had already thought of everything. That saved her the trouble.
Putting her phone away, she went to the study to find Harrison.
“Hubby, I’m going out tomorrow, just to hang out with a friend from school.”
They were leaving for Riverton in a few days, so it was perfectly normal for her to want to say her goodbyes. Harrison suspected nothing.
He pulled her onto his lap and kissed her. “Alright. Do you need anyone to go with you?”
“No, it’s fine. I’ll be back early,” Anastasia said with a sweet smile, wrapping her arms around his neck and planting a kiss on his chin.
Some things were better handled alone. Even if she was confident in her plan, she had no intention of letting him walk into danger with her.
The next day, Anastasia arrived at the agreed-upon time.
At the resort, with Winni as a witness, Anastasia calmly accepted Lauren’s apology.
“Anastasia, I am truly sorry for everything I’ve done. Can you forgive me?” Lauren asked, her voice filled with sincere remorse.
Anastasia met her gaze and laughed. “After all the shameless things you’ve done, the fact that I even showed up today is a sign of my generosity. And you want me to forgive you? Lauren, have you no shame at all?”
Her words were merciless, a public humiliation delivered right in front of Winni.
Lauren’s expression nearly broke. She dug her nails into her palm, quickly masking the venom that flashed in her eyes.
