When she had miscarried and Anastasia had run away, it was Lauren who had rushed to her side, performing first aid that stopped her from bleeding to death. Later, consumed by grief and rage, Winni had nearly given up. It was Lauren who stayed with her day after day, even refusing to eat when Winni went on a hunger strike, starving herself until she fainted.
The memories flooded back, and Winni’s heart softened. She looked away. “I have a property at Sky Villa. I’ll have someone prepare it for you. You can stay there for now.”
“But be careful. Don’t let anyone else in the family know you’re there. They wouldn’t approve.”
She sighed. “Since you’re out, I hope you can start fresh. Turn your life around. And don’t go looking for trouble with her again. It won’t do you any good.”
Besides, with all the people protecting Anastasia—not just the Brennans, but that powerful Mr. Lancaster—making a move against her was practically a death wish. After all these years, this was Winni’s sincere advice.
“I will, Winni. I promise,” Lauren said, hugging her, her voice filled with gratitude.
But in the angle Winni couldn’t see, Lauren’s eyes burned with a dark, venomous hatred.
*Let Anastasia go? Impossible.*
Anastasia had cost her everything. She would never let her get away with it.
“Winni,” she said, her voice soft again. “I want to apologize to Anastasia. Could you… could you help me set up a meeting?”
“Apologize?” Winni looked at her, skeptical.
Lauren lowered her head, her expression bitter. “I truly know I was wrong. What I did was unforgivable, and I owe her an apology… Whether she forgives me or not, I need to say I’m sorry.”
Her tone was so sincere that Winni eventually nodded. “Alright, I’ll ask her. But I can’t promise she’ll agree.”
Lauren managed a grateful smile. “Just you being willing to help is enough for me. As for the location… aren’t you inspecting your resort tomorrow? We could do it there. That way it won’t take up any of your time.”
