Harrison's gaze was like ice. He gave a slight nod, but no one doubted his resolve to dismantle the Mitchell family.
The disaster that befell the Mitchells lasted for a month. By the time it was over, the family no longer existed in Riverton.
The turmoil of the Lawson family had not yet subsided, and now the Mitchells were gone. Everyone who witnessed their fall was shocked, and a sense of fear rippled through the city's elite.
When Anastasia went out, she noticed that the society ladies and their daughters were now extremely cautious around her. Gone were the days when they would gossip about her the moment her back was turned.
"Why are they acting like this?" she couldn't help but ask Marcus. "It seems a bit much, don't you think?"
Marcus suppressed a laugh, his expression a mix of awe and amusement. "A bit much? Do you have any idea what they're saying about you out there? First, you got annoyed, and the Lawson family nearly collapsed. This time, you were kidnapped, and the Mitchell family was completely wiped out."
"Who would dare cross you now? If they accidentally displease you, they're afraid their own families will be next."
Anastasia was speechless.
She went to Harrison's company to visit and noticed someone was missing.
"Where's Tyler?" she asked Harrison.
"He's been dealt with," Harrison said nonchalantly. "He was involved in what happened."
When Anastasia pressed for details, she learned the whole story.
After she had warned Harrison not to trust Tyler, he had taken her words to heart, even without a reason. He stopped assigning Tyler important tasks and even had him secretly watched.
When Serena kidnapped her, Anastasia had a tracker on her. Tyler, unaware of this, had created a false trail to lead Harrison in the opposite direction.
If Harrison had actually believed the false information, the delay could have been fatal. By the time he found her, it might have been too late.
