“Shh…” The man’s voice was languid and sultry. “Who i am doesn’t matter. What matters is that everything you have today is because I’ve been helping you behind the scenes.”
Juliette’s heart pounded wildly as she stammered, “You… What are you talking about? I don’t understand!”
“Do you honestly think your petty tricks could fool Camren so easily?”
Juliette’s scalp prickled with dread. She stammered, “You.. Who the hell are you?”
“Be good. I won’t harm you. From now on, you’ll do exactly as I say. I promise to give you everything your heart desires.”
“Everything?”
“Yes, everything.”
Today was Colette’s birthday. However, due to the unexpected incident yesterday, Valerie did not have time to pick out an evening gown or a gift. She could only get up early and rush to a nearby gift shop.
Valerie had been worried that Aiden would not allow her to go out, so she waited until he was away to sneak out. To her surprise, he had arranged everything, three burly bodyguards shadowed her every move.
However, little did she expect to encounter such a farce. A messy public showdown between a wife and her husband’s mistress erupted on the instantly drawing a crowd of onlookers.
The wife yanked at the mistress’s clothes, screaming, “You filthy woman! Shamelessly seducing my husband! Damn it! I want to see just how slutty you are to drive a man crazy… Scream, go on, scream!”
The mistress curled up on the ground, clutching her head. Her body was covered in bloody scratches, and though she was clearly in pain, she did not utter a sound.
Valerie vaguely felt she looked familiar. As she got closer, something seemed to have snapped at the mistress.
Her eyes, red with anger, suddenly shot up as she shoved the wife to the ground and shouted furiously, “I didn’t know he was married! You can’t keep your man in check, and you have the nerve to blame me?”
The wife was shoved to the ground, landing hard on her backside, and burst into tears.
The mistress, too, broke down in sobs, her clothes torn to shreds. Crying uncontrollably, she scrambled to pick up her things from the ground.
Relentless, the wife lunged at the mistress, but the mistress kicked and sent her sprawling onto the ground.
The mistress was barely covered in tattered clothes and was about to leave when a black coat suddenly appeared before her. Valerie looked at her with complicated emotions and called out softly, “Jeana.”
Back in high school, Valerie had a small circle of close friends. Besides Juliette, she was close to two other girls, and one of them was Jeans Turner
Back then, Jeana was a tomboy. She excelled at fighting, scaling walls, and skipping class. She used to drive the teachers up the wall Yet she was full of energy and vitality all the time.
Valerie had never expected to run into her under such circumstances. Jeana, obviously, never expected to see Valerie in such a place, As share and humiliation crashed over her, she cried even harder.
Valerie draped her coat over Jeana. Seeing this, the wife flew into a rage and shouted, “Who the hell are you? binds of a feather flock together! You’re Surely no better than her!”

Having heard that Colette was a veteran artist, Valerie thought carefully before selecting a folding fan with timeless elegance from the antique shop.
Though not a genuine antique, its craftsmanship was exquisite. Valerie held it and was reluctant to let go. “Can you please wrap this up for me?” she
asked.
“Hold on,” a familiar voice sounded. “This fan is mine.”
Valerie paused, turned around, and saw Juliette. Juliette walked in with a proud, haughty stride, followed by a few girlfriends.
The girls all looked like wealthy heiresses, though one of them seemed timid and hesitant, clearly lacking confidence.
Another, however, had a temperament strikingly similar to Juliette’s. Valerie guessed she was probably an illegitimate daughter or a nouveau riche heiress, someone who had come into sudden wealth and now stuck close to Juliette.
Juliette strutted in, shot Valerie an arrogant glance, sneered, and said, “Isn’t this the young madam of the Walker family? What a pity. Here isn’t Desno City; this is Endver City. Boss, I’ll take this fan.”
The shop owner looked troubled and said, “This… This lady is here first.”
“I’ll pay double,” Juliette slapped down her card arrogantly. “I’m the Shelton family’s heiress. You’ll regret it if you offend me. Be smart; take money, and
we can be friends.“,
Valerie remained calm, looking at Juliette. “I’ll pay triple,” she said.
“I’ll pay five times the price!” Juliette said arrogantly, flaunting her wealth.
“Ten times,” Valerie countered.
“20 times the price!” Juliette shot back.
Valerie was speechless. “Juliette Scott, must you be so lame?” she asked.
“You’re Juliette Scott,” Juliette snapped with disgust. “I go by Juliette Shelton now! Valerie, I bet you’re unaware that I’ve found my biological parents. I’m now the Shelton family’s heiress.”
Valerie looked at her calmly. One of Juliette’s lackeys piped up, “You know the Shelton family, don’t you? They’re one of the major families in Endver City, the most powerful family around. I’d advise you to know your place and stop opposing Miss Shelton.”
“In business transactions, first come, first served is the rule,” Valerie said calmly, looking at Juliette. “I’ll pay 50 times the price.”
“A hundred times the price!” Juliette’s eyes filled with resentment. “You think you’re the only one with money? If you want this fan so badly, kneel before
and it’s yours.”
