Sebastian felt helpless since he couldn't move and was trapped by an invisible force that held him tight. His strength drained quickly, and his life slipped away. Was this how his life would end?
Then, a thought struck him. "Your Majesty, you can't kill me. I can save your daughter."
In that desperate moment, he grasped at a lifeline.
It was a gamble, of course. If he succeeded, he might have a slim chance of survival. If he failed, he would likely become Lazarus' meal.
"Can you really save my daughter? You're just a demigod. What can you possibly do to save her?" Though the words dripped with skepticism, Lazarus loosened his grip on Sebastian's throat.
Sebastian pressed a hand to his neck to stop the bleeding and replied, "Having a chance is better than none at all. Even if you eat me, I can't escape.
"The dangers of the forbidden ground of the demon lord are well known, and fewer people are willing to enter. As time drags on, you'll only get weaker, and you'll be nothing but a forgotten soul."
Lazarus said, "Those people have created a powerful formation and barrier across this mountain range. Any member of the Demon Tribe who tries to breach the barrier will meet a tragic fate.
"Over 200 years ago, my daughter, Lamia De Ville, couldn't bear the thought of being imprisoned here. So, she tried to break through the barrier but was gravely wounded. I nearly exhausted all my demonic power to protect her vital flow. Since then, she has been in a coma."
His eyes glistened with tears, and he continued, "And her condition is worsening. If we can't find a way out soon, she won't have much time left."
Lazarus, who hadn't shed a tear through betrayal or imprisonment in the dark underground dungeon, had wept when his daughter was gravely injured. Now, faced with the thought of losing her, his tears flowed again.
