"You've been listening for quite a while. Care to come out now?" Sebastian called out while looking toward a nearby tree.
A graceful figure stepped out from behind the tree.
"Princess Delaney?" Sebastian was a bit surprised.
"I didn't mean to eavesdrop," Delaney explained. "I was just passing by."
"It's no problem," Sebastian replied.
After a moment of hesitation, Delaney asked, "Mr. Lovell holds you in high regard, so you must have some extraordinary qualities. Why does Ms. Berry seem to dislike you so much?"
"She's never thought much of me, probably because I'm not from a prominent family," Sebastian sighed.
"Then why don't you reveal your true identity to her?" Delaney asked in confusion.
"My identity? What identity would that be?" Sebastian asked with a confused look.
Delaney assumed he was hiding his background, so she offered, "Would you like me to speak with her?"
Sebastian shook his head with a smile, confident that Lila would eventually recognize his worth and come to him willingly.
"It's getting late. How many tokens do you have?" Delaney asked curiously.
"Impressive, Princess Delaney. It's not every day someone dodges a strike from me," a mocking voice sounded as a dark figure descended from above.
The newcomer was cloaked in black. His face was covered, with only a pair of piercing eyes visible.
"Who are you?" Delaney demanded sharply. She then drew her sword and reached for her transmission opal, sensing the dangerous power radiating from the intruder.
Noticing Delaney's subtle attempt, the masked man, Igor Bravo, didn't interfere. "Princess Delaney, you can forget about calling for help. I'm carrying a rare artifact that blocks all outgoing messages within a thousand yards."
Delaney's anger flared. "Who sent you to kill me?"
"A dead person needn't know too much. Prepare yourself." Igor raised his sword and slashed down at her.
