Delaney raised her sword, but her eyes were filled with despair. Igor was a Lesser Deity Master, while she was only a five-star demigod. There was no way she could withstand an attack from him.
As the sword energy closed in on her, a tall figure suddenly appeared in front of her.
It was him!
Delaney was stunned. She hadn't expected Sebastian to step in to protect her, and this filled her with gratitude. Yet, she still held little hope.
Participants in the exam couldn't be older than 33, and at that age, even the most gifted would struggle to reach the level of a Lesser Deity Master. Sebastian standing in front of her seemed like he was only adding another body to the death toll.
Sebastian sensed Igor's strength and drew his destined weapon—the Harmony Blade!
Normally, his power would have been insufficient to wield it effectively, but after training in the Law of Force, his strength had more than doubled. That somewhat made it more manageable.
Gripping the hilt tightly, he channeled his energy and swung the blade in a sweeping arc.
An invisible wave of sword energy shot forward, colliding with Igor's golden sword energy in mid-air.
With a resounding boom, Sebastian's sword energy shattered instantly, but the golden energy wavered briefly before continuing its descent toward them.
Sebastian quickly turned, wrapping his arm around Delaney's waist as he sidestepped, shifting them out of harm's way. There was a loud crash as a large tree nearby was split in two, leaving a deep trench in the ground.
"Well now!" Igor's eyes flashed with surprise. "I didn't expect to find someone as skilled as you among the exam participants."
Delaney was equally astonished, not having anticipated that Sebastian's strength would be enough to almost deflect Igor's attack.
While holding the Harmony Blade, Sebastian pointed it at Igor and said coldly, "Attempting to assassinate a royal princess is punishable by the extermination of your entire family. I suggest you reconsider, lest you bring ruin upon yourself."
Igor scoffed. "You're still wet behind the ear, brat! You think you can intimidate me? How ironic!
"But I'll give you some advice. If you leave now, I might just spare your life."
