Reborn From Oblivion (Nellie and Cameron) novel Chapter 1037

“Baby, from now on, it’s just you for me. Every dime I earn, it’s yours to spend. Please, I’m begging you—don’t leave me for someone else. Please, I mean it.”

In the end, he was clutching the waitress’s leg, yelling out his feelings like his life depended on it.

The waitress called the manager over. The manager just let out a heavy sigh.

Here was this full-grown man, bawling his eyes out, snot and tears everywhere. The manager’s voice softened, full of sympathy:

“Look, I get it. How about this—I’ll call your wife for you, ask her to come pick you up. Just be honest with her, apologize, maybe she’ll forgive you.”

Cameron’s hands shook as he shoved his phone at the manager. “You call her. Tell her to come get me. Just say I’m not feeling well…”

The manager took the phone, scrolled through Cameron’s contacts.

Right at the top was “Wife.” He didn’t even hesitate, just hit call.

When someone picked up, the manager spoke gently, like a dad trying to settle an argument. “Hey, couples fight, but at the end of the day, you two belong together. Your husband knows he messed up—maybe give him a second chance this time.”

“I don’t know what he did, but he’s here, drunk out of his mind, crying like a lost puppy, begging for forgiveness. I think he’s learned his lesson. Come get him, okay? He’s not feeling so great, so the sooner the better.”

On the other end, Greta was hooked up to her dialysis machine, tears streaming down her face.

Had Cameron finally realized what she meant to him?

She cried, but this time it was from a kind of happiness, too.

Greta finished her treatment and, when she got some strength back, she called a ride and headed straight to the bar.

She found Cameron sprawled out on the floor—stubble all over his face, cheeks hollow, his once-handsome features now drawn and sallow. His clothes were wrinkled and stained. He looked like a shadow of the man he used to be. Greta couldn’t even connect this pitiful man to the proud, polished guy he once was. All she felt was embarrassment.

“Cameron, let’s go home.” She knelt down, reaching out to help him up.
