City Hall.
Nathalie and Morris stepped into City Hall, greeted right away by staff eager to guide them through the marriage registration process. First, they pulled a number, then posed for their wedding photo, and finally joined the line with all the other couples waiting their turn.
Jules was as busy as Lincoln. Lincoln, grinning like a kid with a secret, lugged around a giant tote bag and, from the moment he walked in, handed out wedding candies to everyone in sight.
“My daughter and son-in-law are getting married today! Here, have some sweets—spread the joy!” he told everyone with a wink.
Jules kept reaching into Lincoln’s bag, grabbing handfuls of candy and sharing them with anyone nearby. “It’s my son’s big day too! Let’s keep the happiness going!”
The two of them looked like a pair of overgrown kids, having the time of their lives.
Nathalie hid her face behind her hand, wishing she could melt into the floor.
This is so embarrassing.
Wasn’t everyone here today for the same reason? Did her family really have to make such a scene, turning their wedding into a public event?
Morris spotted Nathalie trying to make herself invisible and couldn’t hold back a laugh. He squeezed her hand, leaning in to say, “Just let them be. They’re having fun. And if you ask me, they’ve brightened up the whole place.”
Nathalie gave a small, sheepish nod.
The wait dragged on. To kill time, Nathalie took out her phone, snapped a quick photo of herself and Morris, and posted it to social media. Her caption read: “You were my first half, and you’ll be my second. My life is complete because of you.”
She tucked her phone away, not realizing the storm she’d just set off.
It didn’t take long for people to recognize her as the CEO of Stewart Enterprises, and the man by her side as the legendary hacker who’d brought four powerhouse families to their knees in three months. Their wedding photo was instantly viral, ricocheting across every group chat and feed until it felt like anyone with a smartphone had seen it.
