Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 50

At Charlotte's insistence, Julia and the others finally called for Stephanie.

"Stephanie, what's going on with Hayden's condition? What exactly is wrong with him?" Charlotte asked urgently.

"What?" Stephanie blinked with a bit of surprise. She hadn't expected the Sterlings to show such interest in this matter.

"It's basically due to moisture getting trapped in his body, which causes rheumatism." Stephanie explained.

This type of illness was often called a "poor people's disease". It typically affected people who didn't live in the best conditions, and sometimes, the elderly were prone to it as well.

"Is it serious? Can it be cured?" Charlotte pressed on with her questions.

"It's serious but not overly so. It can be managed, but it's difficult to cure completely," Stephanie explained softly.

She couldn't help feeling a wave of sadness as she thought about Hayden and the suffering he had endured over the past three years. She had witnessed it all firsthand.

"I've made up my mind!" Morgan's sudden voice cut through the conversation, drawing everyone's attention to him.

"What have you decided, Morgan?" Francis ruffled Morgan's hair, and his voice was gentle.

"I'm going to become a doctor! I want to help others and save as many lives as I can. And once I've learned enough, I'll make sure to cure Hayden, too! I swear I'll get into the best university and work hard!" Morgan declared assuredly.

This scene made Julia and Anna silent.

They made their way to the second-floor balcony, closing the door behind them. The two exchanged a knowing glance.

"Did you feel that?" Julia whispered.

"Yeah, something felt off. It was really strange." Anna thought seriously and shook her head. She felt utterly uncomfortable.

"When we brought up Hayden, Morgan jumped in and changed the subject right away. If it wasn't for him, Mom would've kept asking about Hayden, maybe even pushed to check on him. And if Mom had gone with us to meet Hayden, things might've turned out differently."
