Reborn From Ashes novel Chapter 48

"What! We actually got… kicked out?" Anna and Julia were utterly stunned, and their faces filled with shock.

They had come to the Caldwell residence intending to show some concern for Hayden, only to be thrown out the moment they arrived. What was going on?

"What do you mean by this? Open the door!" Anna shouted, and her expression grew icy.

"Hayden, we need to talk to you! Come out!" Julia's voice echoed her urgency, and her frustration was evident.

Inside, Serena was reluctant but advised softly, "Hayden, maybe you should go out. They might really have something important to tell you."

"Even if they do, it has nothing to do with me. This is the Sterling family matter. It has nothing to do with us Caldwells!" Hayden's voice rang out firm, making his stance clear.

After hearing that, both Serena and James were moved when they heard Hayden say he belonged with the Caldwells so naturally.

"That's right! This is their family's, the Sterlings, matter; please don't bring it into us Caldwells!" Jenny pouted, and her face was red with anger.

"But… should we just leave them standing out there?" Serena's concern etched across her face.

Hayden frowned, thinking for a moment before letting out a sharp breath. "I'll go tell them to get lost and stop shouting."

With that, he left to face them.

Meanwhile, James' gaze followed Hayden's back, and there was a complex mix of emotions in his eyes.

"It seems if I truly want to protect Hayden, I need to strengthen myself. Maybe it's time to reach out to some people in the capital. I'm not getting any younger. It's time to put aside a little pride," James thought.

Anna and Julia glared at Hayden, their tempers flaring. It was infuriating to have good intentions thrown back in their face like this.

"Stephanie?" Hayden was stunned momentarily, and a flicker of softness crossed his eyes.

Stephanie was the only one who had ever treated him kindly when he lived with the Sterlings. It surprised him that she still remembered his rheumatism.

"It doesn't matter, as how I'm doing is none of your concern. Please get lost. I don't want to see either of you again! From now on, stop forcing yourselves into my life. You make me sick."

The harshness in Hayden's voice left no room for argument. He didn't want anyone from the Sterling family to cause trouble for the Caldwell family when he was away.

"You—" Anna and Julia fumed, their faces flushed with anger and disbelief. Have they forced themselves into Hayden's life?
