Rebirth: We Split Ways.. novel Chapter 64

"Rebel of a son! She's Penelope! The fourth daughter of the Reed family you're betrothed to!"

The voice of Master Harris grew louder until it became a roar.

He had arranged for his son to move to Seattle to get close to Penelope. Initially opposed, Vincent had only agreed to let his son work at Diamoson, so he never revealed Penelope's true identity to Andrew.

Seeing his son so clueless, breaking off the engagement in front of elders, and even daring to call Penelope an "ugly duckling,"

The Old Master felt his blood pressure skyrocket. He wished to reach through the screen and give Andrew a good thrashing.

Andrew stood up, unable to take his eyes off Penelope, shaking his head in disbelief. How could the unattractive girl from his memory transform into this stunning goddess before him?

"The woman I've been ardently pursuing... is the very betrothed I desperately want to avoid!"

He felt like he might explode right there. "No—this can't be real!"

He sighed long and staggered away, leaving Penelope unable to contain her laughter.

After ending the video call, Penelope spent quite some time laughing alone in her office.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Seeing Andrew so disoriented was more satisfying than winning the lottery.

Soon after, Vincent called.

"Brother, did you need something?" Penelope's tone was casual.

"Can you still laugh after someone breaks off such a significant engagement?"

Vincent's voice hinted at annoyance, angered that Andrew would dismiss his precious sister.

" I'm delighted. We must handle this individual and show him how much he underestimated Xiao Si from the Reed family."

"What do you think of him pursuing you now?"

Vincent paused briefly before continuing, "You needn't concern yourself with the intricate ties between our families. The Reed family doesn't seek to expand its business domains through marital unions. Follow your heart and make your decisions. I'll take care of everything else."

Warmth filled Penelope's heart; her family and friends were her strongest pillars.

Penelope and Megan strolled through the store, eyeing Forever Gems bracelets on display. As the salesperson extracted them from the glass showcase, Penelope reached out to inspect one closely, inadvertently brushing against someone's hand.

At first glance, she realized it was Danna, someone she hadn't seen in ages.

"What bad luck!" Danna said, rolling her eyes, surrounded by other affluent women. "Someone brings disinfectant wipes. I need to clean my hands."

Megan spotted her and exclaimed loudly, "You're a criminal suspect! Why are you out and about if you haven't been jailed?"

"The Archer family works fast. You're out so soon?"

A chill swept across Penelope's eyes. As he had suspected, the Archer family seemed just as cunning and evil. They were always quick to sweep their mistakes under the rug, never truly accepting the repercussions of their actions.

Danna's expression shifted instantly, her voice rising sharply as she retorted, "Rubbish! Watch your words, or I'll take you to court for defamation!"

"Sue me? I'd welcome it! You'll be the next big trending topic," Megan shot back defiantly at Danna.

The women surrounding Danna looked surprised and questioned her, "Danna, since we didn't attend the banquet that evening, we're in the dark. Is it true what they're saying? Were you arrested and thrown behind bars?"
