Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 964

Kylie tried to calm her. “Lucinda, calm down. Let’s figure out what’s really going on first, okay?”

Lucinda nodded, looking like she might burst into tears. “Okay.”

The three of them headed to the interrogation room. Through the window, they saw Lydia and Connor sitting inside. On the other side of the room, a dozen big guys were crouched on the floor with their hands on their heads. They looked like real trouble. Leila was there too, sobbing and yelling, completely losing it.

“Lydia, are you alright?”

Cameron and Kylie rushed to her, eyes scanning her up and down, visibly worried.

Lydia shook her head. “I’m fine.”

Connor chimed in. “Mr. and Mrs. Norwood, she’s really okay. There’s no need to worry.”

Kylie’s relief was mixed with lingering fear. She turned to Connor. “Connor, how did you know? Did you save Lydia?”

The room got quiet, the awkwardness apparent. Even the guys on the floor looked over. They had never seen anyone like Lydia before. She took on ten men like it was nothing.

Connor cleared his throat, embarrassed. He was about to admit that by the time he got there, Lydia had already handled everything.

But Lydia interrupted. “Mom, Dad, Connor helped me. I couldn’t have dealt with that many people by myself.”

Connor went silent, his face turning red.

“Thank you so much, Connor,” Kylie said.

“Yes, thank you for protecting Lydia,” Cameron added.

Connor looked like he wished he could just disappear.

Suddenly, Leila, still on the floor, jumped up and lunged at Lucinda, her voice shaking with anger. “Lucinda! How dare you show your face here?”

Lucinda’s eyes filled with tears. “Don’t listen to her. I didn’t do anything. She’s just mad because Lydia hit her. That’s why she did this. Now she wants to blame me because she got caught. Dad, Mom, Lydia, you have to believe me. I had no idea she was planning anything today.”

She turned to Lydia, searching her face for any sign of trust.

“Lydia, look. I got this message from Paige, another friend. As soon as I saw it, I told Mom and Dad and tried to reach you. I was so scared something would happen to you. Please, you have to believe me.”

Lucinda handed over her phone, showing Lydia the message from Paige.

Lydia glanced at the screen, her expression unreadable. A faint smile tugged at her lips.

Connor’s voice cut through the tension, cold and calm. “Paige is already on her way here. When she arrives, we’ll sort this out.”

Lucinda’s heart skipped a beat. But she had no choice now. Better for everyone to know the truth than for her to be thrown out of the Norwood family.
