At the Norwood family home, Lydia was gently woken up at four in the morning by Kylie and Juna. Kylie hugged her tight the moment she sat up. “Happy wedding day, sweetheart.”
Lydia didn’t know her mom had been up all night, crying until her eyes were swollen.
She smiled sleepily. “Thanks, Mom.”
Kylie’s eyes filled with tears again. She sniffed and quickly said, “Why don’t you let Juna stay with you while you get your makeup done? I’m going downstairs to get changed.”
“Okay,” Lydia said.
Juna watched Kylie leave, dabbing at her eyes as she walked out. The whole moment made her feel a little sorrow. She took Lydia’s hands and squeezed them. “You’re going to be the most beautiful bride in the Capital today. No one’s even going to come close.”
The professional makeup team was already set up and waiting. With gentle brushes and soft sponges, they smoothed a flawless base onto Lydia’s skin. Juna sat by her side, chatting nonstop to keep the nerves away.
“You know what everyone’s saying? For three days straight, people can’t stop talking about how Connor’s turned ‘Lydia’s Garden’ into something even more magical than a fairytale castle.”
“When we get there, I’m going to look around and see just how dreamy it really is.”
“And seriously, if Connor ever treats you badly, don’t get mad when I hire a whole crew to go after him. That’s what best friends are for.”
Lydia couldn’t help laughing. “If he’s ever awful, you won’t need to do anything. I’ll handle him myself.”
Juna just hugged her, holding on tight. “Promise me you’ll be happy, Lydia.”
