Chapter 87
Ryan still didn’t know Annabelle well enough. Would she be the type to give up halfway?
He had chosen her because she was ambitious and ruthless enough to stop at nothing to achieve her goals. Otherwise, he never would’ve sent a woman with such plain looks to Cameron’s side.
Now that Annabelle was pregnant, she sure as hell wasn’t going to let that chance slip away. Cameron’s troubles were only just beginning.
“Mr. Scott, should I reach out to Annabelle and give her a reminder?” Lilian asked softly.
“No,” Ryan replied. “I don’t want any contact with Annabelle before I confirm my
relationship with Cassandra. She isn’t easy to handle, and if she manages to get any leverage on me, that’ll be troublesome.”
“Understood.”
Ryan let out a laugh. “Cassandra and I won’t be going home tonight. If Cameron asks, just-” He paused for a moment. “Just tell him the truth.
Cassandra didn’t want to hear anything related to Cameron, so she took the dogs and wandered off to the flowerbeds.
The roadside flowerbed was filled with blooming roses. One of the dogs sniffed at them curiously but ended up being pricked by a thorn. He ran back to her pitifully, rubbing against her leg for comfort.
Then, Cassandra gently rubbed the spot on his nose that had been pricked. He instantly perked up and started bouncing around happily again.
After Snowball passed away, Cassandra was genuinely grateful for the three large dogs Ryan had brought home. Although she would never forget Snowball, they did help ease the pain of losing her.
Perhaps this was fate. What Ryan had intended as a chore–another way to torment her–had somehow ended up healing her instead.
“Aren’t you a little too big to be acting spoiled?” Ryan muttered with feigned annoyance as he ruffled the dog’s head.
Cassandra looked a bit awkward. “Are you done talking to your friend?”
“Why? Are you dying to know what we talked about?” Ryan countered.
