When Nadine heard Cameron address her as "Mrs. Hamilton", she immediately corrected him. "Cameron, I'm no longer the lady of the Hamilton family. Please don't call me that anymore, okay?"
Cameron had always called her that, and she had corrected him countless times, but he never seemed to take her seriously. This time, she didn't want to let it go. Nadine looked at him with a solemn expression, hoping he would break the habit.
However, he flashed her a smile and said, "Oh, don't be so humble, Mrs. Hamilton. Even though you're not the lady of the Hamilton family now, you will be again soon. Just go along with it!" With that, he ran off into the distance.
After stepping out of the hospital, Cameron straightened up and smiled warmly. "Yeah, right. If I stop calling you Mrs. Hamilton, Mr. Hamilton would probably make me regret it.
"Every time I call you that, Mr. Hamilton grins from ear to ear. It's so obvious that I'm almost embarrassed for him!" After muttering that, he glanced around to ensure no one had overheard his ramblings before walking away.
As soon as Cameron left, Nadine and Brad were the only ones left in the room. The atmosphere instantly turned cold and deathly quiet. Initially, she had considered not coming to work, just to avoid him. But what good would that do? Running away wasn't a solution—it never was.
If she chose to stay home just to avoid Brad, how would she live her life after that?
Nadine remembered what Brad had said to her shortly after their divorce. "What can you even do without me?" At the time, she hadn't answered him. But his words had stuck, simmering in her mind ever since.
She'd made it her mission to prove him wrong—to show him that she could live just fine without him. His words still echoed in her head, but now, just because she didn't want to face him, she was ready to skip work. That would've been a betrayal of all the effort she'd put in to rebuild her life.
After thinking it over, she decided to go to work. Moreover, Seraphina had mentioned there was an important document she needed to give him, so she walked into the office without hesitation.
