After Boyle returned to his villa by Lake Street, he found himself having no mood to take care of the pile of work he had with MO Group.
He closed his eyes as he sat down on the chair in his study before letting out a long winded sigh.
His phone rang and it showed that it was from Sonia.
Boyle stared at the flashing screen for a good long while before reluctantly picking it up.
Sonia chuckled as she asked, "Has work been busy lately? How are things going with Cherie?"
Boyle gulped as he replied with a serious tone, "Mom, Cherie is sick."
Sonia was stunned as she frantically asked in a concerned tone, "Is it serious? How is Cherie doing right now?"
"She's not doing so well… but all I can do is watch."
"Hey… what is going on? Boyle, what's going on with Cherie?"
Boyle did not hide anything from her as he said, "She's diagnosed with severe depression because of me and she's even hallucinating. Mom, I feel like dying."
Sonia clutched onto her phone as she spoke with a concerned tone, "How… how did that happen?"
Boyle remained silent for a good long while.
After a brief moment, Sonia spoke in a gentle tone, "Boyle, I'll come over and visit Cherie, okay?"
"Cherie is currently in the hospital and the doctor advised against disturbing her. You don't need to come over. I don't think she'll want you to see her like this. She's such a prideful person and she'll no doubt want to leave a good impression on her future mother-in-law."
Cherie felt like a complete mess, so how could she possibly want to meet Sonia?
Sonia nodded her head and said, "Don't be too hard on yourself, Boyle. The most important thing to do right now is to make sure she recovers. Modern medicine is so advanced these days. I'm sure there must be a way to treat her. Don't worry too much, Boyle. Remember to take care of yourself too, alright?"
After some small talk, Boyle was not in the mood to continue the conversation so he decided to end the call with Sonia.
However, he thought about the conversation he had with Shania while clutching onto his phone.
It seemed Cherie's subconscious mind had somehow thought of Little Bean Sprout as the child they lost seven years ago.
Boyle decided to give Shania a call.
The call connected.
Boyle said, "I want to bring Cherie to the capital as soon as possible."
Shania's immediate reaction was to refuse him when she heard what he said. She replied with a frown, "Boyle, what on Earth are you doing? Cherie's parents already agreed to have her stay in the hospital for her treatment and now you want to take her out? Was it because Cherie begged you to do so and you didn't have the heart to refuse her?"
Boyle bluntly said, "You've misunderstood me. I want to bring Cherie to the capital because I want to bring her to Moses' grave."
"Moses?"
"Yeah, Moses is the name I've given to the child we lost seven years ago and I've even bought a grave for that child. If I bring Cherie to visit his grave, perhaps she'll feel better. Even if it's only about giving her a very minor confidence boost, that alone will be fine."
After thinking about it for a brief moment, Shania finally felt that Boyle's suggestion might actually be quite helpful to Cherie.
Even if the effects were very little, it was still at least some progress.
Shania agreed to his suggestion.
…
Cherie had just finished her preion medication under the supervision of the nurse the next morning.
Boyle soon arrived at the hospital.
The instant Cherie noticed him, she struggled to get up and walked toward him.
Boyle did not hold back as he rushed over and immediately hugged her tightly in his arms.
Cherie was ecstatic as she thought that Boyle was there to take her home.
"Boyle… We… are we… are we going home?"
Boyle held up her little face and stared intensely at her as he spoke in a soft deep voice, "We can temporarily leave the hospital to do some other stuff."
"Real… Really?"
"Yeah."
After Boyle helped Cherie get changed, they exited the hospital.
Calum was driving when they entered the car. He was driving toward the airport.
Cherie leaned against Boyle's arms as she frowned when she realized they were not heading back to the villa by Lake Street.
"Boyle… where are we going?"
"To the capital."
Boyle patted her hair, lowered his head and kissed her forehead as he said, "We're going to have fun in the capital."
That was because the food was very bland in the hospital. Moreover, Cherie was placed on an IV drip, so everything tasted bland to her.
This caused her to think that airplane meals which she usually detested to actually taste delicious.
Boyle's heart wrenched as he patted her little head, so he had the air stewardess serve up more delicious food for her.
She had already eaten a lot of food that Boyle was starting to get worried about her feeling bloated, so he took her half-eaten strawberry pie away from her hands.
"You'll feel bloated if you eat too much. Save some room for later because I'll take you to eat some better food when we arrive at the capital later. Food there will taste a lot better than here."
Cherie was staring intensely at the half-eaten strawberry pie that was snatched away by Boyle as she pouted her lips and spoke with a frown, "It's not good to waste food."
Boyle finally cracked a gentle smile as he stared at her adorable look before shoving the half-eaten strawberry pie into his mouth while she was still staring at him.
"I'll eat it for you."
Cherie was speechless.
Boyle asked for a cup of warm water from the air stewardess after lunch as he watched Cherie finish her medicine.
However, Cherie refused to take any of her medicine.
"I'll be an idiot after I take my meds."
Boyle pinched her chin with his long fingers as he stared at her stubborn look. He turned her face over, facing him directly.
Boyle stared at her and threatened her, "If you refuse to take your meds, I'll feed it to you with my mouth."
Cherie was speechless.
Boyle placed a few pills in his palms and moved it in front of her as he said, "So?"
One by one, Cherie swallowed her pills.
She frowned hard after finishing her pills as she asked, "I… If I become an idiot… will you make fun of me?"
Boyle cracked a loving smile at her as he pinched her white tender little face and said, "No, but I'll think that you look adorable."
Cherie was speechless.
As Boyle stared at her confused look, he held onto her little face, lowered his head and kissed her lips. While they kissed, he passed a piece of candy into her mouth through his.
It tasted incredibly sweet.
