Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 822

Boyle made dinner for them in their new house.

He cooked three dishes and one soup. They looked scrumptious.

Cherie gave him a thumbs-up as she said, “Boyle, you’re so good at cooking. You’re turning me into a picky eater. I don’t feel like eating the food in our canteen anymore.”

“Our house is just one kilometer away from your university. You can come back home for lunch next time.”

Cherie’s lips curled up into a smile. “You should pick me up from university then.”

“I’ll pick you up if I’m not going to the law firm, but you’ll have to settle your own lunch if I have to head there.”

Boyle put a braised pork rib in her bowl with his chopsticks.

A sweet taste burst in her mouth as she bit on the pork ribs.

Night arrived but Boyle did not let her leave.

Cherie texted Whitney nervously when Boyle was taking a shower in the bathroom.

[I’m staying over at his place tonight. What should I do? Emergency!]

Whitney replied. [Ms. Cher, just jump him!]

Cherie’s lips twitched.

It was not the first time she and Boyle had lived under the same roof and slept together. Yet, she felt especially nervous tonight.

It was probably because Sonia was present when they stayed at Boyle’s hometown and Hector was around when they stayed at Boyle’s rented house. Therefore, they could not do anything previously.

However, this was the first time the two of them were staying alone. Things might go out of control easily as they were all alone.

Cherie was sitting in front of her keyboard in the study when Boyle came out of the shower. She was absent-mindedly playing the piano.

Donned a grey cotton pajama, Boyle walked up to her and sat next to her on the bench. He exuded a faint soapy aroma which smelled good. He smelled like the sun-drenched air in the fields.

Cherie’s lips instantly turned dry as she gulped nervously.

The man glided his slender fingers across the keys as he asked, “What are you playing?”

“E… E minor.”

“Why does it sound like you’re messing around with the keys though?” She could hear the smile in his words.

Cherie’s eyes widened as she looked at him. Her eyes flashed with surprise. “How did you know?”

“I learned a bit of piano when I was young so I know some basics regarding music scores and the keys.”

Cherie thought Boyle was totally clueless when it came to music and was a total music dummy.

Boyle said, “Are you surprised? You thought it’s impossible for someone of my background to learn piano, right?”

“I didn’t mean it that way.”

“My mom was actually the daughter of a wealthy family but for some reason, she ended up falling in love with a scoundrel like my dad. My grandparents were really against their marriage but my mom was blinded by love back then. She would rather cut ties with her family than to marry a scumbag like him.”

Cherie never knew Boyle’s mother had such a love story. If Boyle’s dad was not a kidnapper or a scoundrel, they would have probably lived a very happy life.

Boyle continued speaking as he played the piano with his fingers, “I had a piano at home last time. My mom brought it from her home. Although she wasn’t very good at it, she took some classes before. She told me I could be a good pianist because my hands and pinky are very long. Because of that, I learned a bit of the piano from her when I was young.”

“However, my dad started to become very short-tempered after that. He began smashing stuff and beating people up after drinking. My mother and I endured a lot of beating as well. In the end, he smashed up the piano too and I never played since then.”

Cherie felt sorry for him. Her heart ached yet she did not know how to console him. She simply raised her eyebrows at him and said, “Boyle, let’s play the E minor.”

They played the piano together. Surprisingly, they made a pretty good duo despite Boyle’s stiff fingers after years of not playing. Moreover, it was the first time both of them had played the piano together.

“I’m going to take a shower!”

Cherie slipped down from his lap, grabbed her pajamas, and dashed into the bathroom. Her heart was thumping furiously. She was so embarrassed!

She had shut her eyes earlier. What was she anticipating exactly?

Boyle must have been secretly making fun of her right there and then!

It was Monday afternoon. Cherie was heading back to her dorm after class with her books in her arms.

She heard Natalie chattering with another girl from next door as soon as she arrived at her dorm.

Natalie said, “Do you know that Cherie who’s staying in my room always stays out at night? She never comes back during the weekends. I’m sure she’s sleeping with some guy outside.”

“Are you talking about Cherie Fudd? She looks pure and innocent. How could she be sleeping around with guys?”

Natalie replied, “She’s using her beauty to do whatever she wants and is really good at acting. She comes from a wealthy family yet she denies it. She snacks on chocolates worth several thousand bucks. It just looks like she doesn’t care on the outside but I’m pretty sure she’s secretly trying to show off.”

“I heard that Boyle is head over heels for her. Is that true?”

Natalie sneered. “She clings onto Boyle every day. She keeps throwing herself onto him, begging him to sleep with her. What kind of man could reject a girl who does that?”

“I bet Boyle will dump her once he gets bored of her. Men don't like cheap girls who throw themselves on everybody.”

Natalie smiled cynically. “She’s sleeping around with guys yet she acts all innocent. I remembered there’s this one time when I asked her if she slept with Boyle. I can’t believe she just stared at me like she was totally naïve.”

“No way. Why is she acting all pure and innocent?”

Standing outside the door, Cherie clenched her fist into a tight ball. Instead of avoiding them, she walked straight into the dorm with her books in her hands.
