Ruby stood respectfully beside Old K while listening to his lectures. “About that… Ms. Softie, you can do anything you want in this house with the only exception being that Master Blaine’s study is off-limits. If you were to trespass into Master Blaine’s room, he would really throw you into the river to feed the fishes.”

‘Besides, Master Blaine has set up multiple hidden traps in his study room. If she were to accidentally touch these traps, she might get hurt or even lose her life,’ Old K thought to herself.

Ruby nodded. “He emphasized that just now. Oh, by the way, he said I can’t just stay here for free. What’s my work tasks then?”

“Master Blaine said you can follow Butler William in trimming the bushes and shrubs in the garden. You can just lend a hand to him if he needs any help.”

“So my job is to be Butler William’s assistant?”

Old K could not help but shrug. “I guess you can say that.”

“Will I get paid then?”

“Ahem, regarding that… I don’t think so.”

‘This lady is quite materialistic. Master Blaine just agreed on taking her in and allowed her to stay in this mansion. Her meals are provided too. How dare she hope for a salary by doing chores? Haha, she’s too innocent,’ Old K thought to himself.

“Alright then. I’ll meet up with Butler William.”

In the study on the second floor.

The man stood by the French window with his gaze on the girl downstairs who was absent-mindedly trimming the bushes with a pair of hand pruners.

With detailed documents of what they had found out about Ruby in hand, Old K entered the study and walked toward Blaine. He followed Blaine’s gaze and his eyes fell upon the girl in the backyard.

“Master, these are the detailed documents we have about her identity.”

Blaine took the documents over and casually flipped through the pages before coming across her name. ‘Hermione Luna, what an awkward name,’ Blane thought to himself.

Although the work she did was not heavy and laborious, she was starving after working endlessly the entire morning. She immediately rushed toward the dining table and got herself ready to eat when she saw Blaine at the entrance.

Butler William could not help but remind her, “Softie, this isn’t the place for you to eat. Leave the dining table now.”

Ruby frowned slightly and realization struck her mind. She had totally forgotten her current identity as a maid now! What a good-for-nothing!

Ruby pursed her lips and was just about to leave the dining table when she heard Blaine’s voice from the entrance, “You can just have your meals at the dining table. You don’t have to eat somewhere else.”

He then left the house.

Butler William was unable to grasp Blaine’s intentions but Aunt Heather was able to see through Blaine’s unexpected behavior. She then teased Butler William, ”Can’t you see it? You’re such a foolish old man. Although Mrs. Softie was taken in by Master Blaine, you can’t stop him from taking a liking to her.”

Ruby was speechless as she heard what they said. ‘Has he though?’ she wondered.

She had got a long way to go if she wanted Blaine to fall in love with her.
