Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 696

After staying at the Kingswood Mansion for about half a month, Ruby was finally able to find out the exact locations of all the traps in the mansion. The traps were rather deadly albeit looking simple. Anyone who recklessly trespassed the mansion without proper research beforehand would find it difficult to escape this place alive even if it was a well-trained special agent.

However, what piqued Ruby’s curiosity was Blaine’s study room.

As Blaine had banned her from entering or getting near to his study, she had no chance to sneak into the room for the past few days as there were a few people in the mansion eyeing her.

Blaine had an urgent matter to attend to and had been away from home since last night. From what Ruby heard from Old K, Blaine seemed to be busy with meetings. Although Blaine did not mention what kind of meeting he was attending, Ruby roughly guessed that it would be an international meeting as it has been almost twenty hours since eleven in the morning and Blaine had yet to return home.

Ruby happily thought to herself, ‘He probably can’t come home, huh? Could it be that there’s some shocking news like the President of Country R has fallen out with the leader of the Dark Organisation?’

...

In the meeting room of the Presidential Building, the atmosphere was tense and the standoff had persisted for nearly three hours.

“Sir Blaine, although you’re the leader of the Dark Organization and I know I shouldn’t intrude in your matters, I still hope that you can take the marriage into consideration.”

The two men with formidable aura sat at both ends of the high quality, rectangular, pearwood conference table. With a bit of distance between them, their dark gazes locked onto each other.

Blaine snickered, “I can’t believe that the president is so interested in my private matters, not to mention that as president of Country R, you’re actually fond of being a matchmaker.”

Blaine complied and had a sip of the tea as well. However, he creased his brows slightly and said, “The tea tastes good but I’m not a fan of tea.”

Paul laughed, “Of course you won’t like it. You’re still young. Middle-aged men like us can’t live without tea. You’re just a few years older than my beloved daughter, Holly Reed. Youngsters like you would probably prefer soft drinks and coffee.”

Blaine replied with an implied meaning in it, “Coffee leads to gastric and soft drinks are just too sweet for me. I don’t like them. I prefer just plain water.”

Paul raised his brows slightly and said, “Holly’s twentieth birthday just ended and it was a festive celebration with everyone in the country. However, she lacks a capable man like Leader Blaine to protect her.”

Blaine did not conform to him. In a calm and indifferent tone, he said, “As long as she’s willing, with a precious status like Princess Holly, many powerful and capable men are willing to flock around her to protect her. Besides, she’s the daughter of the president. Who would dare to touch Princess Holly with you around?”
