Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 693

After Blaine exited the ward, Old K glanced at the woman in the hospital bed and secretly gave her a thumbs up.

‘This girl is courageous, huh!’ Old K exclaimed internally.

While Blaine and Old K were outside the ward, Old K asked Blaine hesitantly, “Master Blaine… Do you really…want to bring her back home?”

Blaine glanced at him coldly. “Didn’t you wish that I would bring her home?”

Old K was at loss for words. ‘I’m innocent!’

A week later, it was time for Ruby to be discharged from the hospital.

Old K dealt with the hospital discharge procedures and subsequently went into the ward to pick her up. However, as he was packing her belongings, he noticed she kept glancing at the door multiple times.

Old K chided her, “Forget it. Master Blaine is not coming today. He has an important meeting to attend to so he’s not free to pick you up.”

“Okay,” Ruby replied indifferently as she raised her brows. “I’m just afraid that Master Blaine will go back on his words and regret the things he has promised me.”

“Little girl, you don’t understand our Master Blaine that well. He’ll definitely fulfill all the promises he makes as long as you haven’t lied to him. However, if you did pretend to lose your memory…and are caught by him, you’ll be thrown into the Glacier River to feed the fishes.”

Ruby smirked internally. ‘Hah, no one knows who’ll actually become fish food!’

Regardless of that… her plan was rather too smooth sailing right now.

With the sacrifice of many people, Blaine had been climbing to the top position at such a young age. He would not be in such a superior position without an astute mindset. Although Ruby could not clearly pinpoint out what had gone wrong, she genuinely felt that Blaine would believe in her easily.

Old K donned a kind face and said, “Let’s go. Master Blaine is waiting for you at home.”

Years later, she only realized that some good people would unavoidably have their hands covered in blood in fighting for justice and peace. Blaine was the same as her. They were both trying to retain the kindness and morality in their hearts while living in this materialistic world where people reap the power at the cost of others.

Ruby noticed something uncommon the moment she entered the living room. An instrument was placed in the center of the living room. Although ordinary people might not grasp what the instrument was, Ruby was a special task force agent and had previously come across a lie detector before.

As expected, Blaine was not so easily tricked.

At this moment, a man donned in a black shirt and trousers walked leisurely down the stairs.

Blaine had invited a lie detector specialist for the testing. With an indifferent gaze, he glanced at Ruby before ordering the specialist, “Since the person is here, let’s get started.”

Ruby dug her fingernails into her palms without anyone noticing. If Blaine were to catch her lying to him, not only would she be thrown into the river as fish food, she would become a wanted fugitive in Country R too. At that point, completing her mission would be the least of her concerns as she would not even know if she would be alive or dead then.

She had to outsmart the lie detector in order to convince Blaine that she really did lose her memory.
