Leon scoffed inwardly. 'To go this far for an outsider, refusing to let the matter go because of him, what an idiot.'

Silence filled the private room for two seconds.

The more Leon thought about it, the more absurd it seemed. "Hugo, she said she thinks of you as a little brother, and you actually believed her? You and I are the real brothers. We're the ones who actually share the same blood—"

"That's my business, not yours," Hugo cut him off before he could finish.

For a fleeting moment, something faint but unyielding surfaced in his usually cool, detached eyes.

"You wronged her. You should pay for it." His voice remained calm, but it left no room for argument. "If you don't value her, plenty of people will."

Before the last word had even faded, someone pushed open the door to the private room from the outside.

Hugo looked up, saw Raymond standing there, and let the rest of his words die in his throat.

Raymond stood in the doorway, his gaze sweeping over the two brothers facing each other before settling on Hugo. "Let's go."

Hugo rose as though nothing had happened, straightened the hem of his coat, and walked toward the door.

He passed Leon without slowing down or sparing him so much as a glance.

Raymond stepped aside to let him through.

Once Hugo reached his side, Raymond turned an indifferent look on Leon. "Brother-in-law. Oh, wait. Former brother-in-law. Enjoy your meal. We'll be going now."

Raymond and Hugo left the White Crane one after the other.

Once they settled into Raymond's black SUV, Hugo finally spoke. "Ray, what are you doing here?"

"My sister asked me to come check on things." Raymond started the engine, his tone casual. "Didn't expect you to move this fast."

He glanced sideways at Hugo. "When did you get back to Brimcrest?"
