Once a Doormat Now Untouchable (Caleb and Sydney) novel Chapter 772

Diana stopped and looked at the woman standing in front of her.

She appeared to be about 25. She wore a pink cashmere coat, her hair fell in elegant curls, and her makeup was polished and refined. At first glance, she was undeniably pretty, but a spoiled arrogance lingered in the set of her brows and eyes.

Diana was certain they had never met. Nina, standing behind her, started to speak, but Diana cut her off.

"I am," she replied evenly.

"And you are?"

"I'm Summer Kristoph." The young woman lifted her chin, her gaze drifting from Diana's face to the well-tailored cashmere coat she wore, as though silently judging its quality. "The Kristoph family of Norchester. You must have heard of us."

Diana had.

The Kristoph family of Norchester had made its fortune in construction materials before expanding into real estate and commercial development. They were one of the city's more prominent families.

Even so, Summer's manner was unusually blunt.

"Do you need something?" Diana asked.

Summer got straight to the point. She stepped closer and fired off a direct question. "What's your relationship with Hugo?"

Diana looked at her in silence for a couple of seconds before answering calmly, "In what capacity are you asking?"

Summer blinked, clearly caught off guard. She had not expected Diana to deflect the question so easily.

"I... I'm his fiancée."

The words lacked conviction. Her voice lifted slightly at the end, as though she were trying to reassure herself as much as anyone else.

Diana did not challenge the claim. She simply gave a slight nod and answered in her usual calm tone, "Oh. Then you should ask him."

She stepped forward to walk past her.
