Once a Doormat Now Untouchable (Caleb and Sydney) novel Chapter 734

Penelope and Megan received their verdicts on the same day.

Penelope was sentenced to a total of five years for aiding drug trafficking and kidnapping. Megan received a seven-year sentence, and the court ordered the confiscation of all her personal assets.

By the time the news reached Brimcrest, Diana was already on her way to the courthouse.

A fine rain drifted from the gray sky. Nina sat in the passenger seat and repeated the details from the news report.

Diana hummed in acknowledgment. "Speak with both the detention center and the prison. Make sure they don't bother Vee again."

"Understood."

Nina quickly sent a message, and the car soon rolled to a stop outside the courthouse.

Leon was waiting near the entrance. The moment he saw Diana step out of the car, he hurried over. "Diana."

Diana nodded and walked inside. She took a seat across from the clerk.

Sliding the divorce agreement across the table, she said, "Sign it."

Leon spoke quietly. "Helen already left. She went to Nuckland this morning."

"I know."

"She's never coming back."

Diana looked at him. "So?"

Leon's throat tightened. "So... can we not get a divorce?"

This wasn't the first time he had asked. Over the past few days, he had raised the question repeatedly, and each time, Diana had ignored it.

This time, she finally responded.

"Leon, didn't your father explain everything clearly before you came?" she asked flatly.

Leon fell silent.

That night at the old estate, his father had already spoken to him. He had told Leon that winning Diana back would be ideal, but the Hutton family was not one they could afford to offend. If Diana insisted on a divorce, he should accept it.

But Leon still couldn't let go. He believed that whatever he owed her, he could make up for it somehow.

"Just sign it." Diana pushed the pen toward him. "Let's not waste each other's time."

Leon picked up the pen. He wanted to say something, but in the end, he could only sign his name slowly.

The clerk collected the agreement and informed them that the divorce cooling-off period would begin that day. They could return in 30 days to collect the certificate.

Diana picked up her bag and stood, ready to leave.

Leon called after her. "Diana, think it over carefully during these 30 days. It's a chance for both of us to cool down and think things through."
