“If you don’t have time, I can return it myself,” Bruce added.
On the top floor of Sterling Corp., Julian turned the charm over in his hand. His strong, arrogant face darkened with concern. This was no ordinary charm. The one from Bellroad Temple was always a peach–blossom charm meant for love, not peace of mind.
“Let me return it.”
Bruce exhaled in relief. “Okay.”
Elliot, who had been watching everything, dropped his jaw. He stared wide–eyed as Julian opened his wallet and
carefully slid the charm into an inner compartment.
What? Weren’t they supposed to return it to Sydney? Just as the question formed, Peter knocked and entered, holding an
almost identical peach–blossom charm.
“Mr. Sterling, your grandmother just sent this over. She asked for it yesterday morning. She swears it works wonders and says it’s better to keep it close,” he reported.
Julian rubbed his brow. “Did she say anything else?”
At that moment, the phone buzzed. It was an ecstatic Agatha. “You got the peach–blossom charm, right? I’m telling you, it works so well! The moment I got it, I heard the female doctor got divorced. She’s single! Don’t look down on her just
because she’s divorced-”
“Grandma,” Julian cut her off coldly. “It’s not about looking down on her. I’m simply not interested in divorced
women.”
The next day, Sydney realized the charm Agatha had given her was missing. She rushed to the clinic, thinking she might
have left it in the exam room.
Marcus happened to walk by and noticed the open door. Peeking in, he looked surprised. “Syd, weren’t you resting
today?”
Sydney lifted her head from under the desk. “Yeah. I lost something and came looking for it.”
Marcus smiled. “Have you found it yet?”
“No.” Sydney patted the desk and stood. “I must’ve dropped it somewhere else.”
