When Cedric heard that, his voice remained calm. "Her life is none of your business."
Sometimes, he truly felt like the Liddells were born shameless. How could they still call themselves Noelle's family after everything they'd done to her?
"Sure, Noelle isn't on great terms with us, but we're still her family. The Greene family is way out of her league, and I just don't want her to get hurt," Frank said, putting on the airs of a protective older brother.
He believed that if Cedric wanted to be with Noelle, he would have to acknowledge Frank's status. Unfortunately for him, Cedric had never played by those rules.
Cedric's tone was cold as he replied, "The truth is, she's suffered the most because of you all. Including today."
He didn't bother sugarcoating it, directly tearing through Frank's performative concern. The latter didn't take that well.
After all, it was clear that Cedric didn't respect the Liddells one bit. And if he couldn't even respect her family, how would he treat Noelle in the future? A girl needed her family's support when she got married—that was just how it worked.
But Cedric looked at Frank and said, "She's been doing just fine without you. You can see that for yourself now."
With that, Cedric walked off without another word.
Frank looked up and caught sight of Noelle's confident smile. It only made his chest tighten. He turned toward Donovan and muttered bitterly, "Great, we've pushed our own sister further and further away."
If they had just shown up to congratulate her sincerely, none of this would've happened. If they had built a better relationship with her, maybe Liddell Corporation wouldn't be circling the drain right now.
Donovan was already irritated and didn't want to hear another word. Turning to Wyatt, he snapped, "Why are you wearing our competitor's prosthetic? Take it off!"
Wyatt reasoned, "Donovan, the thing is, Noelle's design really works for me. It's different—and she literally tailored it with me in mind."
Noelle had come to see him often before, so she knew exactly what he needed and what he didn't. He could feel that Noelle still cared about him.
