"No, he hasn't said a word. Besides, this man's a loner. He doesn't have any family, and his parents passed away early. There's nothing we can threaten him with."
Cedric had tried to pry something out of Thomas these past few days, but he hadn't expected the man to be this stubborn.
Noelle frowned. "I didn't think that a gambling addict would be so loyal. Sure, he doesn't have any attachments, but he loves gambling. Maybe that's where we can start."
When gamblers hit rock bottom, they would sell off their wives, kids, and even their own mothers. Noelle didn't believe a guy like that could be all that loyal.
Cedric chuckled. "That's a good idea."
Noelle glanced over the photos. "But we still have to test Xenia and see if she lies."
If both she and Thomas gave the same answer, then they could confirm who Sean was. If their answers don't match, then one of them was lying.
Cedric stared at her. "What did Laura say to you?"
He knew Laura had gone to find Noelle and had been uneasy about it the whole time. He was worried Laura might spill something about the car accident back then.
Noelle shrugged. "She probably knows the truth about the car crash. So she was trying to see if I knew the Morgans were involved."
Cedric's heart raced. "And what did you tell her?"
"Of course, I didn't let her know. We still haven't gathered solid evidence. The Merlocks will erase all the remaining clues if they catch on too early."
Noelle was still cautious with Laura. She didn't want to go head-to-head with the Merlocks until she had everything in hand. She looked up at Cedric.
"What's the situation with Mrs. Merlock? Did she say anything else?"
"Nothing." Cedric couldn't meet her eyes.
