No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 757

Laura cautiously lowered her voice. "But if we don't talk about it now, how are we supposed to save Mom?"

Did Dieter not want to save her?

Dieter grew anxious. "You think I don't want to save your mom? I'm just as worried as you are, but this isn't as simple as you think."

"Then tell me, what exactly is going on?"

After some hesitation, Dieter said, "It involves a major bidding project from years ago that was really important to the Merlock family.

"Your mom wanted us to win the bid so badly that she sabotaged the competitors. She made sure they couldn't attend the bidding. The kidnappers are probably the people your mom hired back then."

In the end, Dieter didn't reveal the whole truth to Laura. He only described it as a matter of business rivalry.

Laura let out a breath of relief. "I thought it was something serious. What does this have to do with the Greene family? Why can't we let Cedric know?'

Could it be that the competitor was the Greene family? That didn't make sense. Given the relationship between the Merlock and Greene families, Emma would likely have the Merlock family take it if it'd just been a minor project.

This wasn't something worth scheming over, was it?

Dieter was getting impatient. "It's complicated and not something I can explain clearly right now. Let's get your mom back first; she can tell you herself."

Laura had her suspicions but didn't dare say too much. If Cedric caught onto anything, things would quickly go south.

She quickly turned and walked to Cedric's side. "Ced, I asked my dad. He said it was a business rivalry. The other side lost the bid, and when their company went bankrupt, they believed that losing that bid caused everything. They secretly planned to take revenge on us."

Laura rephrased the story and left out the part where Ruth sabotaged the competitors.
