Noelle stared intently at Ruth through the partition. Her heart pounded as she waited for Ruth to say the answer.
"Speak up! Where the hell is Mr. Q? I've been searching for him all these years! Bastard hid well and even stole my money!"
Terrified, Ruth blurted out, "H-He's working at a car dealership! You can settle things with him there!"
She exposed everything without hesitation.
Noelle frowned. The man had run off, though.
Cedric calmly pressed, "Keep going. Have her talk about the car accident and where Mr. Q has been hiding all these years."
The man leaned in. "You've been in contact with Mr. Q all these years, haven't you? Don't act like you didn't help him steal my money."
"I didn't! Go to the car dealership and look for him yourself, or I can call him for you." Ruth was practically seething and hated Mr. Q to the core. That idiot!
She quickly handed her phone over. They unlocked it and dialed a contact, but the phone was powered off.
Ruth started to panic. "That's the number I always used! I have no reason to lie to you! I swear! I'll even give you money upfront as compensation! You have to let me go so you can get your money!"
All she could think about now was getting out of this hellhole.
"I've suffered all these years, living like a ghost hiding in the shadows. You think a little money makes up for everything?"
"What do you want, then?"
Ruth was near a breakdown as she snapped, "If something happens to me, people will come searching. Plus, my best friend is Mrs. Greene. If the Greene family gets involved, you won't be able to hide long.
"Your best bet is to take the money and let me go."
She was barely done speaking when a hard slap landed on her face. Her blindfold flew off.
It was only now that she took a good look at the filthy and chaotic room. It was definitely not the kind where people walked out easily.
Her heart sank to the bottom. Had her family realized she was missing yet?
