No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 443

Cedric did not even need to check his phone to know who was calling. He and Noelle exchanged a glance and spoke at the same time.

Noelle said, "You should take the call first."

Cedric stepped aside to answer while Noelle returned to her room and opened her laptop. She quickly hacked into Xenia's phone, but to her surprise, the Trojan software she had implanted was gone.

She blurted out, "What's going on? Did Xenia find out?"

When Noelle tried to reinstall the Trojan, she was immediately hit with a firewall attack. She realized that Xenia had installed anti-hacking software.

Nonetheless, she did not linger and immediately pulled back. She wondered if she had just tipped Xenia off. Then again, how did the latter catch on so fast?

Noelle pondered on the next step. She knew Xenia would only be more cautious, making it much harder to find any useful clues.

Noelle stared at her screen, her suspicion growing stronger—Sean was not as simple as he seemed. She was becoming more and more convinced that the car accident years ago was not an accident at all.

Meanwhile, Cedric took the elevator downstairs. Just as he expected, Emma was still there, lingering near the stairwell.

She looked a little uneasy as she faced him. She explained, "I came to the hospital just to check out that girl. After all, you've been making quite a few moves for her these past few days."

She had initially thought Cedric was just messing around, but now it was clear—he was serious. Cedric replied, "You've seen her now. You didn't say anything to her, did you?"

Emma looked a little surprised. "Say anything? I didn't even meet her..."

Then, she suddenly remembered that the girl she had run into called Cedric by name. Her eyes widened in shock as she exclaimed, "It was her?"

Cedric sighed and nodded. "Yes. You had no idea who she was, yet you walked in with her, arm in arm?"

Emma argued, "I-I just didn't want your guys to recognize me, so I asked a patient here to take me upstairs. How was I supposed to know it'd be her?"

She actually had a good impression of the girl, but now, her mood soured. "Even though she seems like a nice girl, I still don't think she's right for you."

Cedric asked, "Since you trust my taste, why isn't she right for me?"

"If it really doesn't work out, then Magnus can get engaged to them instead. He isn't that young anymore," Cedric said casually.

Emma was taken aback by his response. "But Samantha is several years older than Magnus."

Cedric argued, "Age difference isn't a big deal. Besides, it'd be good for someone to keep Magnus in check before he gets completely out of control."

Just as he finished speaking, an indignant voice rang out beside them. "Cedric, are you sure we're related? Why are you trying to ruin my life?"

Magnus stormed over, looking wronged. On the other hand, Cedric just glanced at him.

He said, "You know what you did. Did you really think hiding out would keep me from finding you?"

Magnus shrank back a little before turning to Emma. "Mom! You were the one who arranged this whole engagement! Why don't you marry Samantha yourself?"

"You little brat! What nonsense are you spouting? Do you think that's actually possible?" Emma snapped.
