No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1482

All the changes happened quietly, almost unnoticed. When Carl saw Cedric in clean clothes, it hit him that Cedric hadn't been suffering at all these past few days. And seeing Cedric so calm and relaxed infuriated him.

How could Cedric still carry himself so unharmed? He was supposed to be crushed under Carl's heels by now.

Grinding his teeth, Carl turned to Emery and instructed. "Pass down the order that no one is to speak to Cedric or do him favors. Anyone who breaks that rule is driven away from the island immediately."

Emery nodded. "Understood."

Of course, Cedric noticed the shift in how people treated him, but he didn't care. Carl had always been selfish, petty, and insecure. That was why his obsession had festered into something ugly.

Later, Blake came to Cedric. The two sat outside the treatment room in silence for a while before Blake handed him a drink.

"Here, have some."

Cedric didn't turn it down. He took a sip, then stopped.

"I didn't think you'd go this far for Noelle," Blake said quietly. He was ashamed that he couldn't compare to Cedric, who'd even put his life on the line.

Cedric's expression stayed unreadable. "It's good you finally understand that."

"Aren't you gonna keep drinking?"

"I can't get drunk. I have to be awake when she wakes up." Every day, Cedric waited full of hope and prayed that Noelle would wake up soon.

But suddenly, things around him started to blur. His head snapped to Blake, and he asked, "What's in the drink?"

Blake grabbed his arm and helped him up. "I'm not trying to hurt you. I'm just trying to get you out of here.

"According to what I've heard, Noelle is waking up soon. You don't have to stay here, so leave while you can."
