When Donovan saw Cedric, he couldn't believe his eyes and almost wondered if he was dreaming. In Yasnia, the Greenes were the law, and he'd spent countless nights worried that Cedric would bring down the Liddells.
And now, seeing Cedric here, Donovan cautiously asked, "Does Carl know you're here?"
As far as he was concerned, Carl would never allow Cedric to be on the island.
"He invited me over," Cedric coolly replied.
"Invited you?"
Donovan's composure cracked under panic. This was pure madness! Had Carl lost his mind? Why else would he get Cedric onto the island?
Colors drained from Donovan's face as he racked his mind to think about what game Carl might be playing. Given Carl's current unstable state, whatever scheme he had in mind couldn't possibly end well.
After he glanced around, he lowered his voice and whispered, "Look, don't let your guard down. Carl's not right and doesn't listen to anyone anymore. You're gonna be in danger alone on this island, so you better watch out."
He could see that Carl wasn't right in the head anymore. Now, he was a madman with no boundaries and basic decency, even going as far as to hurt his brothers of the same blood.
Cedric just watched him with cold mockery flickering in his eyes. "Aren't the Liddells supposed to be cold and self-serving? Have you forgotten how you treated Noelle?"
Donovan froze awkwardly. "I know we failed her, but I never wanted this. And I'm honestly regretful now.
"I know I'm not a great brother, and I'll never be the brother they deserved, but I never intended our plan to harm or sacrifice Noelle's life."
He was being honest and couldn't come to peace with the fact that the Liddells were the reason for how Noelle turned out.
At that, Cedric sniggered, "Don't act like this is remorse. You had a hand in it just like the rest of the Liddells."
"I won't deny that, but I'd suggest you not stay here and leave at once. This island is death row for you, but Noelle's safety is guaranteed."
"That's none of your concern," Cedric coldly replied.
