Noelle realized that the first step of her plan was a success when she saw Carl approaching her. She immediately put on a disinterested expression and replied, "Forget it, the staff avoids me like I'm the plague."
Carl replied, "That's not the case. They're just not familiar with you. They also know that you're my sister, so they feel a little distant, that's all. It's nothing personal."
Noelle mocked him. "I thought that it was because you were afraid that if I interacted with them, they might lend me their phone for me to contact Cedric."
"I didn't mean for it to look like that. But anyway, you must be bored to be cooped up like this for so long. We can go have some fun."
Noelle stood up and replied, "But I don't want to play with you. They're going to stiffen up with you around."
Carl nodded and replied, "Alright, I'll have someone make some changes."
Noelle watched as Emery walked up to the group of people playing beach volleyball, said something to the group, and soon a new group of people took the field.
She gritted her teeth as she realized that Carl had already prepared for such a scenario. The people now on the volleyball court were Carl's team members, and they were no longer the same players from before.
Noelle had wanted to interact with the regular employees on the island. But even so, it was still a good start. She could always take it one step at a time.
Noelle walked over to the court. She did not know how to play beach volleyball, but she had been watching people play for two days by then.
Emery stood next to her and explained, "Allow me to show you the ropes, Ms. Liddell. It's actually pretty simple."
Noelle followed along seriously as there was nothing else she could be doing. She could kill some time, so she played for a while and was soon covered in sweat.
Meanwhile, Carl stood by the side and watched, his expression improving over time.
Just then, his phone rang with a call from Donovan. Carl glanced at his phone and eventually decided to answer it. "What is it?"
Donovan replied, "Ahem, we're thinking of coming over to the island to see how Noelle is doing."
