After piecing everything together, Noelle suddenly felt a surge of excitement. Ivy had chosen to make her move now, and it was most likely all about the money.
Before long, Carl emerged from the ICU and looked at Noelle. "Your friend's condition is looking good. She has a strong will to live, so it won't be long before she wakes up."
A smile spread across Noelle's face. "Really? That's wonderful news."
When Carl saw Noelle's smile, his expression softened considerably. He glanced toward the exit and asked, "Who was that woman in the wheelchair earlier?"
"She's Mia's stepmother. Why do you ask? Do you know her?" Noelle was somewhat surprised that Carl would bring up Ivy.
Carl's tone remained cold. "I don't know her, but I didn't like the way she spoke. She seemed rather fake to me."
Noelle nodded in agreement. "I felt the same way. Looks like my instincts were right."
Carl looked at Noelle seriously. "You should be careful around that woman from now on. Don't believe a word she says."
"I understand." Noelle found Carl's words a bit strange.
She wondered why he would suddenly have such strong hostility toward Ivy. Could it be that Carl actually knew Ivy but had just said he didn't know her? Was he lying?
Carl checked the time and said, "I should head back now."
Noelle looked worried. "You're leaving so soon?"
Mia hadn't even woken up yet.
Carl looked at Noelle. "If you come back to the Liddell residence to have dinner with me every evening, then I can stay until your friend wakes up before I leave."
Noelle nodded without hesitation. "Alright."
It was just having dinner at the Liddell residence. Compared to Mia's health, it was nothing at all. Carl nodded and left the hospital.
Grace's voice was choked with tears. "I'm buying a ticket right now. I need to see with my own eyes that she's okay."
"Take your time, don't rush. She might even be awake by the time you get here tomorrow," Noelle comforted Grace before hanging up.
Then, she immediately checked her phone. Sure enough, the entertainment headlines were filled with coverage claiming Mia was critically ill and might end up in a vegetative state.
She hissed, "Mrs. Cantrell really can't wait for something terrible to happen to Mia."
Alfred sighed heavily. "I never expected Aunt Salena to turn into this kind of person."
Ever since their falling out over the AI project, he and Salena had barely been in contact.
Noelle said, "Let's not worry about that right now. The most important thing is to visit Sean in prison and confirm Ivy's true identity."
