Noelle looked at Laura coldly and replied, "You'll be in for a disappointment then."
As the trial began, Ruth was brought out to the court in prison attire. She seemed even paler and more haggard than before.
Fear flickered in her eyes when she saw Emma. "Are you really trying to kill me?! Even though we've been best friends for so many years?!"
Emma just stared at her and said nothing. She was saving her strength to tell the judge about her supposed best friend poisoning her.
After a brief struggle that led to her receiving a warning, Ruth finally quieted down and was led to the defendant's bench. She kept her head down while her body trembled all over as if she was terrified of something.
Laura was confused by the sight. She did not know what was going on. She wondered if Ruth was still hiding something from her.
Samantha also found it strange. "Laura, what's going on with Mom?"
"How would I know?!" Laura shrieked. She could tell that it was definitely not anything good.
She would soon find out about what it was, as Jeremy brought up Ruth's poisoning attempt on Emma along with evidence to back up his claims as soon as the trial began.
The doctor who had been bribed by Ruth also appeared in court and testified in detail about how Ruth had planned the poisoning.
Laura was flabbergasted after hearing the doctor's testimony. "Poisoning? That's impossible!"
Samantha was even more shocked than Laura already was. She grabbed Laura's hand and asked, "Laura, what do we do now?"
