Noelle could not help but laugh at how utterly ridiculous Laura's comment was. She did not even bother to reply to Laura and simply helped Emma continue walking ahead.
Emma had also noticed Laura, but she had just pretended not to see her.
Laura felt extremely disrespected after being ignored completely. She had already seen the viral news about Noelle being photographed together with Emma and Cedric having a meal together.
The way the media was presented online made it seem like Noelle was meeting Cedric's parents.
The entire internet had been mocking Laura lately, saying that the number one socialite of Yasnia had lost to a girl from a small town like Noelle.
Reading the news articles over the past few days had angered Laura so much that she even lost her appetite. She believed that Noelle had stolen everything from her.
Laura stepped forward and looked at Emma. "You're not really thinking that Noelle's better than me, are you? Noelle is worlds apart from the Greene family. She got close to Cedric with ulterior motives from the very beginning."
Emma sat down in her chair and looked up at Laura. "It's none of your business. Besides, I think Noelle is a wonderful young lady. I'd be smiling all day and night if she's willing to become my daughter-in-law."
Noelle looked down at the floor and said nothing in response after hearing Emma's words.
Due to the photos of them having dinner together, there had been rumors swirling online that good news about Noelle and Cedric would be about to happen soon.
Noelle was busy dealing with the ongoing lawsuit, so she never came forward to clarify the situation so as to not draw any more attention to the case.
Rumors would naturally fade with time, after all. Laura was livid after hearing Emma's response. She could not believe that Emma actually liked Noelle that much.
She then turned to Noelle and said, "Don't get too full of yourself just yet, Noelle. Mrs. Greene said the same thing about me back then as well."
Emma's expression shifted drastically. She had indeed said the same thing about Laura back in the past, but she did not know what kind of people the Merlocks really were back then.
