Even if she was going down, she would drag that bitch Claudia with her!
"Claudia!"
A collective gasp went through the crowd.
In the same instant, both York and Rock Sayer kicked out, sending Ann flying.
They had both used their full strength.
Ann was thrown several meters, crashing into a table with a tremendous bang. The champagne tower and cake on the table came crashing down with her. Ann landed in a heap on the floor, spitting blood, unable to get up.
York and Rock Sayer turned to Claudia at the same time. "Are you okay?"
Claudia subtly pushed York's hand away and shook her head. "I'm fine."
She looked at Ann, curled up and contorted in pain on the floor, without a trace of pity or satisfaction. She remembered how she had once given up her favorite major and her career for York, relying on him completely. Three years as a housewife had cost her her marriage, her family, and even herself.
Thankfully, she had woken up in time and built a world for herself with her own two hands.
Ann, on the other hand, had been scheming from the very beginning. This was the fate of a woman who refused to improve herself, a woman whose only ambition was to climb the social ladder by relying on a man.
Claudia watched as several police officers entered and took both Ann and Virgil Stone into custody. Then, she took Rock Sayer's arm and left.
York stared blankly at her departing figure, making no move to stop her.
Ann was held in place by two officers. She watched York's helpless expression as Claudia walked away and burst into manic laughter.
Wendy sighed. "Objectively speaking, you did the right thing about Thorne. Ann broke the law and must be punished. But you shouldn't have hidden it from me, and you certainly shouldn't have hidden it from Claudia."
York couldn't help but lower his gaze. He had tried to tell Claudia, but she hadn't seemed to care in the slightest.
"That woman has gotten what she deserved," Wendy said. "You and Claudia are divorced. Let this be the end of it all."
York kept his eyes down, hiding the emotion within them.
The end of it? Impossible.
He was going to win Claudia back. He was going to make her come home with him.
