No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 417

A few days later, in the CEO's office at Ferguson Group.

Mark delivered his report to York. "Mr. Ferguson, Ann confessed to everything on her first night in prison. She was sentenced to life. She keeps demanding to see you, has bashed her head against the wall, and even bit a guard. Her mental state seems to have taken a sharp turn for the worse."

"What about the others?" York asked.

"Lamont refused to take custody of Ethan. After negotiating with the James family, he gave them ten million for child support and returned to Caledon this morning."

Mark continued, "Ann's family took the ten million and are packing to move to Linshire City with Ethan."

Seeing no reaction from York, Mark quietly excused himself from the office.

York sat silently in his chair.

It was all over.

Now, he would make it up to Claudia and win back her heart. He wanted her to come home. He wanted to remarry her.

He took out the crystal glass pendant that Claudia had made for him.

That day, she had told him she'd dreamed of their child. She had sketched the baby's face, then used AI to render it into a small, five-inch photograph, which she sealed inside the crystal and gave to him. He knew she couldn't let go of their child, and that she wanted to use this photo to constantly tear at his heart, to make him regret, to make him hurt.

Clutching the pendant to his chest, York dialed Claudia's number.

That evening, after work, Claudia drove to the agreed-upon location: the Ferguson Mansion where the Watkins family had lived for so many years.

It was time to end things where they began. She had agreed to meet him here to make things clear, once and for all.

Their eyes met, and York's brow furrowed. His voice was low, careful, and filled with a restrained pain. "Claudia, I sent Ann to prison myself. She can't bother us anymore. Please, don't push me away again."

He stepped forward to take her hand, but she stepped back, avoiding his touch.

Claudia met his pained gaze, her expression cold. "York, it seems you still don't understand. The problem between us has nothing to do with Ann or anyone else."

"If it weren't for Ann, we never would have reached this point," he interrupted.

A bitter irony welled up inside Claudia. Without Ann, they certainly wouldn't have reached this point. They would have continued as before: he, forever on his pedestal, the successful and devoted family man in everyone else's eyes.
