No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 136

But today, she had no intention of letting Ann get away with it.

In front of Wendy, Ann was completely powerless, unable to even get a word in. With York and a crowd of strangers watching, she didn't dare fight back or scream insults, only cower and beg for mercy.

When Wendy's arm grew tired, she finally let go.

Ann collapsed to the ground, trembling and sobbing into her hands.

Wendy pointed a finger at her son's face and yelled, "Do you have any idea that six years ago, this is the woman who took a sixty-million-dollar check from your grandfather and left the country overnight?"

York was stunned.

He stared at Ann, his eyes wide with disbelief.

Seeing her son's reaction, Wendy instantly understood. He must have never heard the recording she had.

"That's not what happened!" Ann denied, crawling on her knees toward York. "York, let me explain!"

York slowly recovered from the shock.

Controlling his emotions, he bent down and helped Ann to her feet. "Let's talk somewhere else."

This was a busy crossroad. The last thing he needed was the Ferguson family making tomorrow's front page.

Wendy shook her head in disappointment, took Darleen's arm, and left in her car.

York had Ann get into his car.

Tears streamed down her face. "York, I'm a straightforward person. I'm not a schemer. I was so young back then, and I was terrified. It never even occurred to me to keep some kind of proof. I was so stupid, so naive. I deserved to suffer for it."

York, who had been silent the whole time, finally spoke. "Stop crying. I'll have the driver take you home."

With that, he opened the car door and got out.

Ann was about to follow him to continue her explanation, but he shut the door firmly.

She gripped the handle but stayed in the car.

After that scene with Wendy, York was bound to be suspicious. She knew he was powerful and resourceful, which was why she had prepared for this. The more he suspected, the more he would investigate. And the more he investigated, the more guilty, remorseful, and sorry for her he would become.

On the sidewalk, York watched the black luxury car drive away before pulling out his phone. "Mark, I want you to investigate Ann's life abroad for the past six years. I want every single detail."
