Chapter 12
Diana's POV
"He's not up here. Trust me‚" Mom said‚ and Aunt Sasha sighed worriedly.
"Alright then‚ let's all go downstairs."
Isaac and I stayed completely still until we heard their footsteps moving away. The moment the house grew quiet again‚ Isaac released a deep breath beside me.
The tension in the room slowly faded‚ but my heart was still racing wildly in my chest.
Isaac walked toward my window and looked down quietly.
My eyes widened.
"Don't tell me you plan to jump‚" I whispered.
"I can't go down the stairs. They'll notice‚" he replied calmly.
Before I could stop him‚ he climbed onto the window ledge.
"Isaac!"
"Relax. I'm a doctor. Nothing will happen."
Before I could even respond‚ he jumped.
A loud scream escaped my lips. My heart nearly stopped as I rushed toward the window. When I looked down‚ I saw him standing outside‚ already adjusting his clothes like nothing had happened.
"I'm okay!" he mouthed.
Relief flooded my chest and I released a shaky breath.
What was wrong with that man?
How could he act so normal after everything that had just happened between us? After the way he had touched me… the way he had looked at me… the way my body had responded to him without control.
My face burned as the memories rushed back.
I quickly turned away and rushed to my closet. My hands were still trembling as I searched for something decent to wear. My body still felt warm‚ sensitive‚ restless. It felt like my skin remembered his touch.
I grabbed a simple flowery gown and slipped it on quickly‚ trying to calm my breathing. After fixing my hair and wiping my face‚ I hurried downstairs.
By the time I reached the dining room‚ everyone was already seated at the table.
Everyone except Isaac.
I walked slowly and sat beside Gabriel‚ choosing the empty seat next to him so no one would notice anything strange.
"Hey‚ are you okay?" Gabriel asked softly. "I heard you sprained your ankle."
I blinked‚ surprised.
I had completely forgotten about my ankle after everything that happened upstairs. Isaac had treated me earlier and given me something for the pain.
"I'm getting better. Thank you‚" I replied quietly.
Gabriel smiled warmly. "I came earlier for the party but didn’t see you. When I heard there was a family dinner‚ I had to come. The party wasn’t interesting without you."
Guilt twisted inside my chest.
