"Daddy, I need water. She brought it to me willingly and even poured boiling water into my mouth." Christopher promptly revealed her plot, sticking out his tongue. "My tongue is burned, and it hurts so much."
Christopher cried out in anguish.
Arthur was taken aback and quickly approached to assess.
Indeed, Christopher's tongue appeared slightly red.
In that moment, he couldn't discern who was at fault, but seeing the child's injured tongue, he felt a pang of sorrow and picked him up.
"My foot got burned too." In that moment, Christopher gestured to his foot. He wore small slippers, and it was evident that the soles were red.
Arthur's gaze turned dark. He placed Christopher on the sofa and went to fetch the first aid kit.
Returning with the first aid kit, he carefully applied ointment to his son's foot.
Beside him, Sheryl observed him tending to his son, feeling uneasy. In reality, her foot was more severely scalded than Christopher's, yet his attention remained solely on the child.
After a while, the ointment was successfully applied to Christopher's foot.
"Alright, Hendrick, Daddy will take you back to your room to rest. I need to go out soon," Arthur said as he lifted him, preparing to escort him back to his bedroom.
"No, Daddy, I want to see Grandma." Christopher, upon learning that his father was leaving, grew anxious. He didn't want to stay at home with Sheryl, that malicious ugly woman. He immediately raised his voice in protest.
"No, Grandma has some tasks to attend to today. You can't accompany her."
Given that Arthur had arranged for his mother to host some important guests at the tea party today, Hendrick naturally couldn't accompany her.
"Then I'll go to Jennifer's house to play." He shifted his focus.
During kindergarten today, Jennifer informed him that his mommy would be working late tonight, so he could come over and play with Hendrick at their place.
Arthur listened but remained silent. It was nearly six o'clock, and it would be quite inconvenient to visit at this hour.
"Daddy, I'm going to her house." Christopher began to throw a tantrum, sitting on the ground, crying incessantly.
"At the same time, you should introspect and consider why the child doesn't like you. Why doesn't he accept you? Surely, there are still many aspects where you fall short." He spoke bluntly.
Her expression grew somber.
At that very moment, Arthur's phone beeped.
He received a message from Sylvia, a little mimic,
"Hendrick's parents, let him come over and play with Jennifer. She really likes him, and I'd be thrilled to have Hendrick visit our home to play."
Observing that he had nothing to counter with, he had to depart with Christopher.
Sheryl observed the father and son walking away, a cold glint in her eyes.
After a while, she ascended the stairs to tidy up and called the driver. Ignoring the discomfort in her feet, she made her way to The Ritz Paris.
How could such a lively tea party proceed without her!
