"Arthur, please don't be upset. Your anger breaks my heart. This kind of woman isn't worth the distress." Sheryl's fingers delicately traced patterns on the man's chest, exuding a tender and enchanting allure, filled with a gentle and affectionate warmth.
Despite her soothing gestures, Arthur maintained his stern expression as he proceeded toward the ward.
"Arthur, I honestly believe that Charles is a suitable partner for Sylvia. Six years ago, before your divorce, he was already involved with her..."
Her words seemed nonchalant, yet a hint of jealousy simmered within her. In the past, her aim had been to marry Charles if she couldn't secure Arthur. Before encountering Arthur, she had attempted to allure Charles, but he hadn't shown any interest. Now, the prospect of Charles drawing Sylvia away seemed appealing to her. She was aware that the Jacobs family would never permit Sylvia to become entangled in their affairs.
At best, she would be just another one of his secret lovers.
"Enough," Arthur sternly cut her off before she could complete her sentence.
Sheryl gazed at him with fearful eyes.
"Sheryl, go to the ward and get some rest. I'll leave now." He released her hand and walked away.
She observed his angered departure, a subtle smile playing on her lips.
The more Arthur humiliated Sylvia, the more content she felt.
Sylvia's impact on him appeared less substantial than she had envisioned.
‘Sylvia, you must return and face the hardships. Let's see how resilient you truly are!’
Shortly thereafter, a young man rushed over.
"Ms. Lancelot, this is what we discovered in Sylvia's office. According to the surveillance footage, she added this to the perfume." The man handed her a small black bag.
She accepted it and unsealed the package, revealing a small bottle of black liquid. As she unscrewed the cap, a potent musty odor nearly made her retch.
Swiftly, she secured the lid back in place.
"Alright, I understand," she said, placing the items back into her bag. "Is there still no availability of Peruvian balsam in the market?"
"No, there won't be any supply for the next week," the man replied with a smirk.
Even Wendy found herself perplexed this time. Although Hendrick wasn't particularly close to Sheryl, they were still mother and son. There's no son in this world who doesn't desire for his father and mother to be together.
"Hendrick, tell grandma, why are you opposed to your daddy marrying your mommy?" With a long life behind her, she found this question particularly puzzling.
"Because she's bad," Christopher replied after pondering for a moment.
"Then, tell grandma, what bad things did she do to make you dislike her so much?"
Now, Christopher found himself unable to provide an answer.
Wendy hadn't witnessed Sheryl commit any particularly egregious actions. Yes, she had argued with her mother, but she had also argued with him. However, these incidents couldn't be considered the gravest offenses.
"Is it because she scolded you last time?" Wendy couldn't help but find it amusing. After all, which parent didn't discipline their child? Besides, she had observed that Sheryl cared about him in these recent days.
"No, it's because she's not my mommy," Christopher hurriedly explained, struggling to come up with a convincing reason.
