Leaving the Wrong Love Behind Forever novel Chapter 88

"Mr. Bridgewater, I possess evidence that I'd like to share with you." Sylvia swiftly retrieved her phone, opened a text message, and presented it to him.

Arthur's gaze lightly skimmed the message. "A text? What century are we in? Who even bothers with text messages? Why didn't you use WhatsApp? I suspect you purposefully didn't request leave and should be treated as absent."

Absent from work?

Her frustration flared, causing a resurgence of the stomach pain. "Mr. Bridgewater, I haven't had your WhatsApp for quite some time now."

Ever since her mother's passing six years ago, deleting his WhatsApp had been her immediate response.

In her current life, the idea of rekindling a connection with him hadn't crossed her mind.

Moreover, even if she extended the invitation, there was no guarantee he would accept.

"Then, go ahead and add me! If you don't, it's on you," Arthur asserted, displaying an air of dominance and stubbornness.

Frustrated, she clenched her teeth. "Mr. Bridgewater, even if I do add you, will you actually accept? Besides, I don't want to add you on WhatsApp for work-related issues. It's unnecessary!"

He sneered, "You're overthinking this. The corporate WhatsApp ID is strictly for work purposes. Nowadays, every company uses enterprise WhatsApp. Do you really believe I'd ask you to add me on my personal WhatsApp account? You're not deserving of that."

His cold gaze shifted to Charles, standing beside him, and he taunted, "I find that distasteful."

Sylvia was caught off guard. Corporate WhatsApp? He had a point, and it was her fault for not keeping up with the work dynamics in Paris after six years in the United States!

Nevertheless, his words were cutting, dripping with sarcasm and harshness, clearly meant to belittle her.

The anger surged, and her head spun as her body swayed in response.

In that moment, Charles, who had been observing, couldn't hold back any longer. He spoke firmly, "Mr. Bridgewater, why are you treating a woman this way? After all, Sylvia was your wife for two years; a bit of kindness would be appropriate. She came to the hospital today because she wasn't feeling well, and I can vouch for that. Moreover, there's no company policy that forbids employees from seeking medical attention when they're unwell."

Arthur's handsome face tightened, and he coldly said, "Mr. Jacobs, can you prove that you are an employee of Gucci company? On what grounds? Just because you are the president of the Jacobs Group? Do not think that having a high position can give you the right to give orders on my territory. Let me tell you, here you are nothing. Besides, you are hooking up with a divorced woman. Are you not afraid that Miss Zia, the daughter of the Boat King, will feel about it when she finds out? I think you should take care of yourself first. Go ahead."

Following these remarks, Charles's complexion shifted from red to pale, leaving him utterly speechless in the face of the retort.

Humiliating her was one thing, but openly and covertly targeting Charles as well was downright despicable!

"Well, Mr. Bridgewater," she suddenly smiled at him, pointing her finger upwards, "Take a look, what's up there?"

For a moment, he didn't react, lifting his gaze to inspect. Only the ceiling met his eyes.

"What's up there?"

Sylvia chuckled and answered, "Two words are hovering, Stinky, shameless."

At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and she ushered Charles inside.

Before Arthur could respond, the elevator had already begun its descent.

His eyes darkened instantly, and his expression turned as grim as a thundercloud.
